Network connection OK, but tracker offline timed out

I need some assistance please.

My utorrent network connection is OK (check mark in green circle), but I get the message "tracker offline (timed out)." This started this morning for some unknown reason.

I still have my usual up and download speeds (250KB/s and 65KB/s, respectivley), but am not getting any credit for uploaded and downloaded data. I have not made any changes to any settings or installed any new programs, etc. As a matter of fact, everything was great for the last 2 years (aside from the odd, short-term glitch). Is this another one of those glitches, or is it something else?

Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I thought that when it says "tracker offline (timed out)", that means the tracker is not up. Am I missing something? How do I then check to see if the tracker is up?

It's just a test torrent. If the tracker on it connected successfully, then it likely means that the other tracker that's offline is simply down.

OK. Then I will just keep utorrent running and check once in a while to see if the tracker is up.

Thanks.

Well, its about 48 hours now and the same situation continues: upload and download speeds good, utorrent network connection good, tracker offline (timed out), upload and download stats don't register.

Do I still need to wait for tracker problems to sort out, or is there anything I can do?

Hi

I also have had the same problem starting a few days ago and so has another user I know.

Trackers have not gone down as if you exit utorrent and restart trackers show active again for 10 - 15 minutes.

I have been using utorrent for along time now and never experienced this problem before.

Network settings are all ok (got the green tick) and traffic is still processed but always performs better after it is stopped and restarted (Utorrent that is) and trackers show as active.

All other apps and internet are fine.

Would love a solution to this.

Thanks

I'm getting the exact same thing. Been useing utorrent for years and never had this before. Conection is good and speeds are fine when initially starting utorrent but after about 30mins all torrents on all trackers show ofline timed out even though they are still seeding and leeching. I close down utorrent and restart it again and everything works again for another 30 mins or so.

Its really frustrating as once its timed out no stats are being recorded.

No, I haven't checked Windows XP event logger. I will try that when I am home from work tonight.

Next day:

As mysteriously as this problem appeared, it has now disappeared!

First off, I checked the Windows XP event logger. Over the last couple of months, there were maybe a dozen 4226 errors. During that time I didn't experience any problems with offline and timed out trackers.

There is something however that may be related to the onset and disappearance of this problem, i.e, the tracker going offline. I was downloading a file that had only 1 seeder (with an upload speed of about 3 kB/s) but close to 200 downladers. I didn't notice the problem in the early days of downloading this file, but as time went on and the number of downloaders went up, the problem appeared. (There were never 200 of them connected, but there were alot, maybe 50). When this download was complete, the problem went away.

I don't know enough about bittorrent and P2P, but was this the cause of my tracker going offline? How does that happen?

Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
