Yellow triangle,closed port?

Hi,

I have yellow triangle and my port is closed(i tested by speed guide).I haven't a firewall and I have 1MB DSL connection by LAN.

When i start torrents, it's speed rising to maximum first and then it drops to 0 slowly.What should i do?

Confirm your real sustainable upload and download speeds using speed tests.

uTorrent is configured based on your sustainable upload speeds, and if you put settings too high everything from being firewalled (yellow triangle) to speeds dropping to 0 can happen.

Try the 1st and 2nd links in my signature for more complex help...and post back here the info the 1st one asks for if nothing helped.

You have to choose your upload speed. 1mbit is not your upload speed.

Uploading at "unlimited" speeds is probably a big part of your problem.

The closest speed match in Speed Guide (CTRL+G) in uTorrent to your connection is the 512 kilobits/second upload speed one.

Did you port forward your router?

If so, did you also check to see if there was a router "above" yours in the network you connect to? If so, it needs to be port forwarded also.

I have tried to Port Forward my router several times. but everytime i try to do it. i run the port tester afterwards and it always says the port isnt open.

Is there anyway you can explain to me how to Port Forward in a way i will be able to understand better..

Imagine not being firewalled like having a welcome mat in front of your open front door.

Except in your case, possibly:

1.your ISP may have placed a minefield in front of your property (transparent proxy)

2.Your router's moat is full of man-eating crocodiles and the drawbridge is up (though port-forwarding is like lowering the drawbridge)

3.Or there's software firewalls on your computer acting as a last-ditch machine gun nest to kill ALL incoming connections.

4.Or you're uploading/downloading too fast and the bandwidth door is jammed and new arrivals are having problems getting in.

i have changed all my settings to recommended settings, still cant port forward. and my icon has been red for 4 days now. i have been using utorrent for over a year and never had this problem before, i am baffled as to what is blocking it. i have one rooter and another pc running off it , but on a different port number, and that icon is red also.

it also says on tracker status. access denied , leeching forbidden, you are only allowed to seed ????? does this help.

hey guys...i also have the same problem...my speed may be high at some time and then become slower,but never reaches zero...i changed some settings yesterday ant the icon became green for some time...but after i restarted my computer it was yellow again...what exactly must i do??we also have another computer at home,but there utorrent runs fine...what may be the problem??Please help...thx

Yeah it does. It means you've probably been downloading alot more from there than you're uploading...so much so that they demand you seed some of the files you got from there before awhile before they'll ever let you download anything from them ever again.

If both PCs are firewalled, then it's probably either your router's messed up, your ISP has blocked ports, your PCs LAN ips have changed, or you've got new software on both PCs that isn't being very friendly.

Does your computer change its LAN ip on reboot sometimes?

The only new software that has been put onto both PCs are some games from Big Fish.

I did a system restore. and after that, i never got the red symbol, only orange triangle.

Our router is very basic, it is the one that was installed when we had the internet installed at home.

My computer doesnt change LAN IP everytime it reboots.

Can you think of anything else to suggest? We have gone through all the troubleshooting guides, but still no success.

Do you have anyway of IM? as then you can explain step by step, at the time i can do it.

There's two different possible red icons. One in the main listview and the other at the bottom of the status window.

Which is it?

Avast acts like a firewall. It's probably the one closing the port. You need to add utorrent to its exceptions.

i have added utorrent to avast exceptions and disabled the other thing, and i have a yellow triangle and no port open. i am baffled.

since last on here i had a power cut and my icon has now gone red again. please help
