Default web browser

I am nowadays using Firefox as my default web browser. In μTorrent, when I click on the Help menu > webpage, Maxthon launches instead. Is the web browser identification hardcoded in μTorrent? If so, perhaps it would be better the program to check first the system properties. If not, maybe there's a mistake in my own side (although some apps indeed launch Firefox, most of them admittedly they don't...)

My compliments, I've been using Azureus for long time, but I think I will stick to μTorrent now.

Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Set Program Access and Defaults > Custom > Choose default Web browser: > Mozilla Firefox

It's definitely system-side. Applications ask the system for the default browser, they don't look for it. Try going into firefox's options and have it check whether it's the default.

Yah that doesn't work all the time. Sometimes, setting Firefox as default through Firefox doesn't force some stuff to open HTTP in that browser, so you still have to set it in the Set Program Access and Defaults applet.

I can't even use IE anymore, for some reason if I type anything into it, it passes the links onto Firefox.

Thanks for the input. I had already set Firefox as the default browser in the Set Program Access and Defaults applet and Firefox indeed confirms it is the default browser. Just to make sure, I repeated and re-booted. Yet, the uTorrent menu launches Maxthon again. I've tried about 10-15 various programs to check how they behave : only Nero 6.6 and CDex 1.51 launch Firefox, all the rest insist on Maxthon.
