please help going insane

hi i am running windows vista on my pc and wireless network

i have followed the port forwarding guide and set it all up correctly i have also followed some other tweeks i have found from reading this forum

BUT

when i select a torrent to download it finds the peers and seeds and starts downloading and the speed gets up to 312kbps but thats where my problem starts the speed is all well and good but it doesnt stay there for long it might download at that speed for 30 secs and then the speed drops to 3kbps why is this and how can i fix the problem
