Unable to use 'Open" or "Open Containing Folder"

I can no longer open a file or open containing folder from within Utorrent. This is a recent problem, as several weeks ago both worked fine. When I attempt to open a file (AVI, TXT, EXE RAR) listed in the Files tab, either by choosing open or double clicking, I receive the error "There was an error opening one or more files you tried to open. Maybe the file hasn't been fully downloaded yet?" When I attempt to open containing folder nothing happens. I tried to force recheck but, once again, nothing appears to happen. I'm running 1.7.7 (Build 8179). This is more of an inconvenience than a real problem as files are downloading fine and can be run from outside uTorrent with no problem. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

So what did you change in that time frame?

What AV/firewall/security software are you using?

Please follow the procedures in the troubleshooting sticky and paste Process Explorer DLL list for uTrooent.exe and a HiJackThis full log to confirm you're not running something you don't know about.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running Comodo 3.0, haven't changed anything there (that I know of) also have Avira Antivir for good measure. Below is DLL view for uTorrent and HiJackThis log as requested.

Hrm. Have you tried forcing a recheck on the files? Can you exit µTorrent, backup your settings.dat from %appdata%\uTorrent, then remove settings.dat and settings.dat.old from %appdata%\uTorrent, then reconfigure µTorrent and see if the problem persists?

Thanks Ultima. Tried to force a recheck, nothing appears to happen. I removed both settings.dat and settings.dat.old and reconfigured, no change. Also, to add to the list of the non-working. I can't run a speed test or test port forwarding on the speed guide. Nor can I access help, the webpage, or the forums, from the help menu. Show stats, check for updates, and About (except for the webpage button) work fine. The search for torrents doesn't work either. All very strange. I am able to add new torrents and update tracker, I guess thats the most important.

Start > Run > control appwiz.cpl,,3 > Custom > Choose a default Web browser:

Select your browser, and make sure "Enable access to this program" is checked.

As for Open not working... it might be a Comodo issue (its Defense+ HIPS thingamajig). Try disabling Defense+ in Comodo (you are using Comodo 3.x, right?).

Thanks again Ultima. I ran appwiz, no dice. I, also, thought that these problems sounded firewall related. I disabled Comodo 3.0, but it didn't help. Do you think an uninstall/reinstall of uTorrent might do the trick? If I save my settings.dat can I repalce the new one and not have to reconfigure? I have uTorrent set as "trusted App" in Comodo, but I could remove it from there and let the firewall redo its thing? I'm running out of ideas.

Try uninstalling Comodo temporarily to see if the problem persists.

Thanks Ultima. THAT'S IT. When I disabled Defense + all my UTorrent issues vanished. I tried exiting Comodo, but that just shuts down Firewall which was not enough. Now all I have to do is pour through the confusing morass of Comodo screens until I find the unintentional settings for uTorrent. It's only a matter of time now. Appreciate all your help and sticking with me through this.
