Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT310N ??

Hi,

I've having a problem with uTorrent 1.7.6 after installing new router Linksys WRT310N.

Start to get a NAT problem, I need to forward the port, went to this page

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT310N/Utorrent.htm

Now, I've having two simple & dumb questions

1- Is the static ip the same as my PC IP?

2- Under the applicant name should I write Utor1 as it is said in the page or write the full name of the application uTorrent 1.7.6 ?

3- What else I should do to forward the port correctly ?

I've Speedtouch modem, as for the firewall I disabled it except Windows firewall.

The other question is about the port numbers. I noticed that the port number in the Speed Guide is different from the one in the connection menu. Is that normal?

Should I check the option to randomize port ? what are the advantages & disadvantages

Thanks,

That's why you need to fix the port forwarding issue.

As for bridge mode... basically, your modem acts as a router, and is blocking incoming connections. You need to enter its configuration page (probably by connecting your computer directly to the modem, then chekcing the whole ipconfig /all stuff to figure out your default gateway IP under the modem.

OK, here is the situation,

I went to this page

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT310N/Utorrent.htm

& did as instructed, I forward a range of port by using "Port Range Forwarding" & saved the setting, but still got this error

"Error! Port 62400 does not appear to be open.

Please see www.portforward.com for more information about how to map a port.

Please make absolutely sure that PeerGuardian2 or Protowall is allowing utorrent.com (72.20.34.145) in either of those programs. Those of you using ipfilter.dat should make sure the list does not include the website's IP. After making sure of this, re-run this test by refreshing the page (F5)."

What I'm missing ?

I bet your port forwarding will magically work if you uninstall Kaspersky. :P It's probably silently blocking µTorrent, despite the exceptions (firewalls have a nasty habit of doing that). Sometimes removing and recreating all exceptions works.

I might do it but I need to make sure that I done everything correct about the port forwarding.

1- I went to this page

http://portforward.com/english/routers/ … orrent.htm

2- I followed the instruction as it said. I forward a range of port by using "Port Range Forwarding" & then saved the setting.

3- I ran the test but I still got the same error that port is NOT open.

Q1. What went wrong, other than the firewall issue?

Q2. Will it matter if I restarted the PC or the router after saving the setting.

Well, the easiest factor to eliminate is the firewall. Uninstalling it is the quickest way to go. Then you can find out if your forwarding is actually working or not.

Also, you should upgrade to µTorrent 1.7.7, as 1.7.6 has some security issues.

I upgrade to µTorrent 1.7.7 & still got the same problem. Spent all week reading about the problem & then I found out that my "modem" Speedtouch 546, which I got from my ISP, is not just a modem but also a router. Which might be the reason why I'm having this problem with the speed & port forwarding.

What I want now is to setup Speedtouch to act just as a modem.

I mean, what I should do to set it up in bridge mode to do that ?

Thanks,
