port-forwarding done by the book, still not working. Please assist!

Hey...I am quite frustrated as I have been messing with this many many hours, and still no result. Here is the setup:

Router/modem:d-link DSLG804V

network: 3 notebooks, mobile phone. All hadnled by DHCP, except one notebook which has static.

Computer: gericom silver shadow 2 notebook.

OS: Windows XP (no service pack)

All right, so first step was to assign a static adress to my notebook. I did that, here is a screenshot confirming it:

Then, next I setup portforwarding in my router. Here is what I end up with:

Next up is the utorrent configuration. This is easy, just type in 32500 as the port and disable uPnP. Screenie:

So, after this it SHOULD work, but the speedtest keeps telling me that this port is closed. I have no firewall, no antivirus either. The firewall on the router is disabled.

Any ideas ? :-(

Firon, I understand that. But, the other machines don't need utorrent, they are just workhorses. This one is for all the downloading needs, because it has a large HDD for all those linux distros.

So, in essence, I reserved an IP for the computer with utorrent on it, and did all the portforwarding. Why would this not work? Do I need to assign static IP to EVERY machine on the subnetwork? Why would it help?

lucidtentacles:Well, I have dl/upload, but I believe it's working mostly through DHT. I'm not so sure, I'm not so tech savvy. The main problem is that the speedtest utility says I'm blocked...

aahzmandeus: My DHT is disabled and i'm not tech savvy either but i am good at following instructions and slowly manage to learn a bit extra each day. I'm wondering whether the speedtest utility is giving a false reading.Especially as my DSLConnect UK - Bandwidth meter test gave me a reading of 85.33Mbps which means i can download at 10.67 MB/sec. Not Bad eh =D

Yes, my reply was in response to lucidtentacles.

But the statement's always true...ADSL's top download speed is only 24 megabits/second.

aahzmandeus, you probably just have a (hidden?) firewall on your computer. Reconfigure, disable, or remove that ...as currently it isn't working as desired.

I have the exact same problem as aahzmandeus and done the same as him. I only use a different router/modem... I followed the instructions on Portforward.com and everything seemed fine. But uTorrent still says that the port is closed. Now I wonder, could AVG Anti-Virus be this hidden firewall on the computer? Is there anyway to disable it, or configure it to open a port?

I also have a similar problem. I followed every detail on portforward.com, completing both port forwarding (http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/BEFSX41v1.50/Utorrent.htm) and static IP address (http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm) processes. However, when I tested that forwarded port on http://infinite-source.de/az/az-calc.html and some other testing websites, that port is still closed. I really have no idea what happened here and how to open the port for uTorrent.

Internet provider: Comcast

Cable Modem: Motorola Surfboard SB4100

Router: Linksys BEFSX41 v2.0

System: Windows XP (SP2)

Anti-virus software: BitDefender Antivirus 2008

Winodws Firewall has been turned off

Also maybe an interesting fact. When I check the "opened" port, it usually takes about 5 seconds or so before it says it isn't open. But when I check a different port, it says it isn't open immediately. So this port forwarding DID help a little bit apparently...
