kimfinale
I recently installed the uTorrent -- I used to have Vuse. Every time I try to download the file from the web site, I get the following error message-----??.torrent could not be opened, because the associated helper applicatio does not exist. Please change the association in your preferences.-----One thing I found is that I can't seem to click the button "associate with .torrent files" under "Options" tab and change the setting. If I click that button, it turns grey, but if I restart the application again, the button appears as though it has not been clicked. If I reinstall the Vuse, I still can download the file. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.
jewelisheaven
searching would bring you the windows settings to change/remove. If Vuze is default for .TORRENT files, it's possible it's re-added when you run it. Or it's possible you have security software which doesn't allow uT to change it. Only on 1.8 does the preferences button STAY "clicked"... due to user confusion just like you're experiencing.
Firon
You probably need to reset the .torrent association in Firefox.
kimfinale
I just reset the .torrent association in Firefox and uT works perfectly now. Thank you.
