kevinsd1234 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hi,I cannot figure out what's wrong with this because it seems that my setting is correct.I got around 610 kB/s downloading from OpenOffice.org, but can only get around 1.0 kB/s from other torrent that has 35 connected peers, and one seed.I only average about 1.0 kB/s down while the upload is constantly at 186 kB/sHere's my setting:150 global connection50 connected peers per torrent8 upload slots per torrent.186 kB/s max upload rate. This seems to be swarm problem, but port is forwarded correctly, tracking status show "Working"Please help, I cannot think of any other reasons as to why it's painfully slow.Thank you.
GTHK Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 one seedIt's the swarm. Generally speaking, a higher seed/peer ratio means a faster torrent.
kevinsd1234 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hi,Thanks, I know that more seeds is better, but the swarm is 50 and I got 35 connected. Amongst these 35 connected, they take a total 186 kB/s from me, but I only get 1 kb/s or sometimes 8 kB/s back from these 35 peers. Isn't this kinda odd? It's also important to note that many of these peers got 40% completed just like I am, so they do have parts to share, but not many of them giving me anything at all.Any thought as to where I should start trouble shooting? Thanks.Kevin
GTHK Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Peers right? If OO works, then your setup is most likely fine. If people don't seem to be going anywhere, maybe the torrent is fake? Go to the peers tab and enable/look-at the relevance column.
Switeck Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Are you sure your connection can sustain upload speeds of 186 KiloBYTES/second?That sounds more like your max download speed...2 megabits/second download line low-end ADSL or Cable.
kevinsd1234 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 Hi,Yes, I can sustain 186 kByte/s because that's how I set it. In my first post I said my download from OpenOffice is 610 kByte/s, that's probably the highest for 5mbps download.I have Fios 5mbps down and 2mbps up. If my calculation is right the max download is 625 kByte/s, and max upload is 250 kByte/sBy the way, my download speed is now getting a bit better, it's going between 5 kB/s to 12 kB/s which is still far less than my constant upload speed of 186 kB/s.Thanks.Kevin
