uTorrent locksup the PC

uTorrent is locking up my Vaio VGC-RC110g, after an hour or 2 of running, requiring a hard reboot, no blue screen. I've uninstalled avast and nero essentials to no avail. My connection is verizon fios using a usb wireless dongle w/ windows drivers. I am at my wits end trying to solve this on my own, and I really like utorrent cause its fast sans the lockup. Definitely need help here, thanks ahead to time.

USB, meh. If you set an HTTP download which would take that long... does it freeze then too?

Why does your Cypress USB drive require a background process?

I'm not sure but if that Nokia suite isn't required to connect to the internet... try turning it off. All those sony vaio processes... BLAH! I'd double check none of them act as a proxy or additional relay between your computer and the internet.

I also see you have superantispyware... can you try uninstalling it.. or if it IS uninstalled, use LSPFix to remove the hook into your processes.

USB wifi adapters are pretty unstable. You're probably crashing the adapter, which in turn takes your computer with it.

You can try finding new drivers for USB and the adapter itself. Failing that, connect wired and see if everything goes away magically. If that works, then you might need to try some of the stuff in this thread to avoid crashing the adapter. http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258231

My 2nd link gives settings that are at least slightly less likely to crash your USB wifi adapter than Speed Guide (CTRL+G) gives.

...BUT...

With USB + wireless, you probably need to limit global and per-torrent connection max to 60 OR LESS!

I changed the settings and no go, but you're right about the usb dongle. It went away when I went to a hard line through the router. Unfortunately, it's a pain to have a wired connection, so I'll just go without for a while, thanks again.

You can always look around and see if you can find another USB dongle with better drivers... but I'm not sure one exists.
