123123noob
I am not sure if I can post this here but can anyone help me?I have followed every detail in portforward.com(except the id at the end...H9200P Prolink) The id doesn't seem important but I still get that the port is still closed ... minizoner
yeah me to, back on dial up the port was as clear as day but i am now on sattelite and the port isnt forwarding properly. hlp
Firon
Satellite ISPs don't give you a real IP. You can never forward on satellite.
minizoner
well thats gay, coz it works just real slow
Firon
Satellite has high latency and low upload. You won't get very good results from it.
minizoner
yeah i've noticed high latencey when trying to play games online (so i dont bother) but i still dont see why a propper port isnt open?!?! (average speed of a url download 61kb/s,, utorrents average speed 21kb/s)
Firon
Satellite internet basically puts you behind an ISP enforced LAN. That's why your port isn't open. Also, the latencies are around 1 second. Not good.
minizoner
so presumably from the above answer, i cant squeeze utorrent for any more speed?

minizoner
yeah, i cheeck through my isp's website and through http://www.speedtest.net its mildly lower by like 10kbps but thats not a big difference
Firon
Open the Speed Guide and try choosing xx/384kbit from the list.Disable DHT in the preferences as well.

amargadekar36
I am using utorrent 1.8v.I have mobile internet connection.when I tested my connection speed using utorrent, it shown me that my internet connection downloading speed is 64kbps and uploading speed is 44kbps.But my port is not forwarded. And I am getting dam slow downloading speed varying between 10kbps and 0kbps.It is not exceeding 10kbps.So how can I speed up my torrent? Trip-Out
amargadekar36,You can try using a port number that's higher then what the routers will block, something like 22222, also turning on encryption can help with speed issues as some ISP's do use traffic shaping or p2p blocking. Switeck
amargadekar36,Are you talking kilobits/second? ...in which case your speeds are dial-up slow.Or KiloBYTES/second? ...in which case your speeds are just low-end broadband.Trip-Out,If you're not port forwarding your router OR using DMZ OR UPnP OR port triggers on the router, you will always be firewalled by the router. And port triggers sometimes don't work right...and DMZ makes your computer more vulnerable to outside attack.
