kelcher
Is there any way to do this in uTorrent? When I'm seeding 100+ torrents, and they all update to the tracker at the same time and cause my connection in other programs (eg Firefox) to stop. I've tried raising (and lowering) the net.max_halfopen property to no help ...
DreadWingKnight
Why are you trying to seed 100+ torrents at once?
kelcher
Because I'm on a private tracker and seeding is how you raise your ratio ... They're not all transferring at the same time, just active.

kelcher
I'm not having torrent speed problems, just having a problem with so many torrents updating all within 5 seconds of eachother.
DreadWingKnight
Then run fewer at once.
kelcher
No kidding, I know that will work. I'm asking about a way so that I can run all at once with staggered tracker update intervals, which you're not helping with.
DreadWingKnight
Because you're most likely trying to run 100 torrents on a connection that only supports 2, MAYBE 3.Running more torrents at once doesn't help your ratio.Running the RIGHT torrents does. kelcher
Right. The problem is that there's a low number of peers on each torrent, so I need to seed a large number of them so that when a peer joins, I'm there to upload. The seeding itself isn't a problem, I can keep a sustained upload just fine, the only problem is all of the tracker updates at once. DreadWingKnight
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=9961 - 2 years, didn't happen. Doubt it will.http://azureuswiki.com/index.php/User:The8472/Private_trackers

hermanm
What a great idea! I'm in support of well-behaved client. I always love to hear how individuals push µTorrent to the outer edges and come up with these unique situations.
Firon
Are they HTTPS trackers? net.max_halfopen won't control those (because it's using a built-in Windows function). If it's regular HTTP, it will... sorta. The control isn't perfect for trackers, though I think 1.8 might handle it a bit better.
kelcher
Nope, it's a HTTP tracker. 1.8 RC4 is what is giving me the problems, but I can't say if it's better than 1.7* since I've never used it (I'm a recent convert from Azureus). jewelisheaven
I've never had a problem with tracker updates... up to 100 trackers updating simultaneously. (I enabled scrape_stopped)
Switeck
Is this why uTorrent triggers a 4226 error on my Win XP Pro box when it starts up?I am trying to seed 5-10 often-dead torrents, some with multiple trackers.
