funbag
I have been successfully using utorrent for over a year now. Using XP, Symantes Av, Sygate Fw. My dl's are starting as normal, normal speed etc, however the dl % is going backwards after a while. Then they just fluctuate up and down. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Ultima
How many hashfails are shown in the General tab in µTorrent when you select the problem torrent?
funbag
Gee, only 840 hashfails, what does this mean then?
Ultima
It means you're getting a lot of invalid data. What is the seed/peer count on the torrent? What is the availability? What percentages are other peers at? Chances are good that the torrent is poisoned.
funbag
I must add that this is not the only file having problems, there have been two others which I gave up on. And there is a second file at the moment that is only at 7.5% which is fluctuating also, this file has 353 hashfails. Seeds 34, peers 20.Availability 38.991Peers % anywhere between 8 - 100%
Switeck
Are there ANY peers in the 38.x.x.x or 208.x.x.x ranges?(If so, they're probably hostile peers that exist only to send bad data.)uTorrent's ipfilter.dat can block them...and you probably should. funbag
Under the Peers tab there are two peers in that range.-38.100.135.56, &HW-ESR1-208.102.2.67.I will continue reading until I figure out how to block them using 'ipfilter.dat'. Learning as I go.Tried right clicking in Peer tab -> Reload IPFilter. Is this how to use ipfilter.dat?Peers 38.xxx.xx.xx still appearing.
Ultima
Place ipfilter.dat in Start > Run > %appdata%\uTorrentTo block 38.x.x.x, there has to be a line like this in ipfilter.dat:38.0.0.0-38.255.255.255I don't think that large a range needs to be banned, but I'm not 100% sure -- I don't use ipfilter.dat. Switeck
38.90.0.0-38.127.255.255...will get the vast majority if not all the poisoners in the 38.x.x.x range. That's still a HUGE range, but isn't an entire A-block (/8).
