spacebass Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 I had done the lord patch on half open ports and when I read in the FAQ there should not be more than 50 I went to change the number from 70 as I had specified , again with the Lord patch which website makes no mention of SP3, when I tried to reduce the no. to 50 the patch failed and reverted the half open ports to 10 the default no. with the message 'Windows installed another TCPIP.SYS version with another limit than chosen.....So now I am back to square 1 any suggestions to adjust the number of half open ports in Windows XP SP3?Cheers
Firon Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 You probably have to make sure that the windows file protection dialog doesn't overwrite it.
spacebass Posted July 22, 2008 Author Report Posted July 22, 2008 Thanks for fast response, can you point me in the direction of any links that might tell me how to do this? Thanks again
Ultima Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 When Windows asks you if you would like to restore the file, simply say no.
