Server crashes

Hello

I'm new to this forum and have a problem I hope you can help me with :)

I have a sever with OVH, this one to be precise

http://www.ovh.co.uk/individual/products/kimsufi08.xml

But I'm having problems. I'm pretty sure that µTorrent makes the server crash, but I don't know why and was hoping you guys could help me out :)

The OS is Windows 2003 Server Standard SP2 Edition distribution.

Tell me if you need more information

Thanks in advance

What version were you using? What throughput were you getting? People can max 100Mbit symmetric with 1.7, but crashing usually is a sign of some instability. Double check the software and hardware.... if the hardware is slow (not likely a problem from the primer) you can use 1.8's variable cache and better management capability.

I'm running with µTorrent 1.7.7. I'm can't tell if the bandwidth was maxed any of the times, because the server crashes within a few minutes, but I doubt it. I've just done a new installtion of Windows, only things installed are Firefox and µTorrent.

I've communicated with the support at OVH and they concluded that the hardware is working fine.

Here's what I got for a crash that happened today

DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL (c5)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is
caused by drivers that have corrupted the system pool. Run the driver
verifier against any new (or suspect) drivers, and if that doesn't turn up
the culprit, then use gflags to enable special pool.
Arguments:
Arg1: ed790ae5, memory referenced
Arg2: d0000002, IRQL
Arg3: 00000001, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation

Hmm. I've written to the support at OVH saying there was a NIC problem. They told me to update the NIC drivers, but there were no updates in Windows Update. I also referred them to this thread, but they're still saying it's my fault the server keeps crashing.

Can you help me or do you have any other suggestions what's wrong?

What half open value are you using in uTorrent?

And what settings in general are you using in uTorrent?

...Lastly, how much bandwidth do you have to work with?

These alone shouldn't cause a crash of that magnitude, but if you can't fix the unstable hardware...it's still worth a check to see if uTorrent's settings may be a bit much for the connection it's running on.

Check uTorrent's advanced settings...half open limit probably still needs to be only 8 max. :(

uTorrent's special features are probably too much for the server's weak networking hardware or software.

I mean DHT, UPnP, Local Peer Discovery, and Resolve IPs.

If you don't need them, try disabling them.

1000 global connections at once is another potential overkill for the server. It *SHOULDN'T* be for good hardware+software, but the bluescreens you've had is proof enough they don't have that. :(

i normally use "Driver Detective" to update all my drivers, even ones i don't know about and its quick and easy :) updates all the drivers you need =) without crashing, so that would be a best bet for you > VowOfSilence < as you would need to update any drivers that ain't on windows update!

hope this helps you out a bit..
