ifmusic Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 first of, i read the FAQ and some post and i dont know if i have the same problem. The thing is that, like other people, ive got trouble downloading a Big Torrent -34gb aprox-. these are TV series seasons five of them and i want to download them one at a time. So>i skipped everything but the 2nd season files and waited..... (8gb)...., Finally i got to 100%!!! but i had half the files 400mb size and the rest 0kb, and i had the ~PartFile of 4gb, i checked, Files + ~partfile = 8gb aprox. But utorrent Never turn the partfile into real files.wait, it goes on....so i downloaded the last beta version to see what happens i thought it might be smart to activate Preallocate so i did, funny thing is that, after utorrent checked existing data it said i had 60%! (2nd season files), why? Because utorrent simply DELETED the ~partfile!, and concerning the files they remained exactly the same some 400mb some 0mb so i checked existing data but did not Pre Allocate....im a little confuse by utorrent behaviour.....im so sorry this happens because beside this it's an awesome client hope u can help me skipped if any. byePD> i noticed that clients like abc also get to a 100% of the file and yet it's 0 bytes but it has a magic button called Finish allocation which fills all files leaving them "readable", completed and uncompleted from those not
Lucifer Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 I don't want to create a new topic since i think we share the same problem, hope you don't mind ifmusic.Downloading a 4.62 GB file but had around 2 GB of free space. So, enabled diskio.use_partfile and set several files to "Don't Download". Free up some space and decided to continue downloading the rest by changing their priorities back to normal. However, only one new file starts downloading.Checked the download directory and found only a new part file named "~uTorrentPartFile_127B18FA8.dat" with 0 kb. The rest of the files haven't been pre-allocated since no change to the hard disk space. This is probably a bug but just to make sure.Thanks.
ifmusic Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 it's similar yeah. Though i have no Partfile now despite the fact that it's enabled in the adv. tab.i mean it's downloading so i should be writing to the disk but I DONT HAVE A CLUE of where its doing it because file sizes aren't moving.
ifmusic Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 ok, Got something new and very disturbing..downloaded FileMon from sysinternals to see what was utorrent doing, it kept READing files from the second season (These are which i want) and funny thing is that it's WRITING on FIRST SEASON FILES, which are Skipped. WHY? why dumping data into skipped files?!if you want i could give you a dump of filemon analisys so you can see it for yourselves.
Lucifer Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 I got something weird as well. I left all the files downloading and there weren't any new files created in the download directory before but i just checked again after about 15 minutes and there's now one while the rest are still missing. I wonder if they need time to pre-allocate?And although the file has been created, it isn't downloading at all.
ludde Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Does this problem happen only after you run out of disk space?
ifmusic Posted January 2, 2006 Author Report Posted January 2, 2006 there's no disk space trouble for me. i didnt run out of it.
Lucifer Posted January 2, 2006 Report Posted January 2, 2006 Same here. I had around 700MB of free space left before i free up more space.
