pls help. download speed is lower than 5kb

my upload speed is 25kb/s

i read the setup guide and adjusted my μtorrent.

but still the problem stays the same.

oh, and i'm downloading a tv series. since it's so big, i'm downloading it as parts. do you thing that's the problem, why i have a slow speed?

If your upload is only 25kbit/s, that's dialup speeds. You're not going to do any better than what you're getting now.

so what should i do?

i got 30-50kbits before. it's so slow all of a sudden. do you think it's because i'm downloading parts. or it's just a problem in my connetion.

You need to do the test with µTorrent closed and any other bandwidth consuming application stopped.

Open the Speed Guide and choose xx/96kbit, though it wouldn't surprise me if your ISP tries to block P2P.

i'm sorry, i new to this stuff. i know what ISP means. what's P2P. why is my ISP blocks it. so if it's the case, what should i do. as i told before it worked fine until the day before yesterday.

Your list of running processes (either method a, b, or both is fine):

a) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here

get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here

This is to rule out hostile software on your computer interfering with uTorrent.

I see McAfee and My Web Search...which are certainly good at slowing a computer down -- but I don't believe they'd reduce your download speed so low.

Maybe someone else will spot something that might be causing problems.

How do the test torrents run though? http://slackware.com/torrents/ is one, OpenOffice is the other thrown out here. Download, add, run for a minute or until the speeds stabilize (check Speed tab, scale to 5 seconds)... it may be a swarm problem Also what are your Speed Guide (Ctrl-G from within uTorrent) settings?

it's xx/96kbit.

the download started to work fine this morning like normal, then there was a win32 error, and i had to restart my computer. after that the speed went very slow again. now i'm back to square one.

the error message appeared again. it says, generic host process for win 32 services.

what does that mean. there ware 3 win32 error messages since yesterday, and my internet stops, and i have to restart my computer.

please help, anyone????? :(

i ran a test and the speed is 50kb/s. it ran alright. maybe coz it had 40something seeds. but my download ran fine this morning and now..... i'm going so crazy!!!

That certainly sounds like a software problem... I can only suggest uninstalling things to get rid of the error(s), not the bandwidth problems. It may have to do with scheduled "shaping" of your connection.

My choice on what to uninstall is McAfee and My Web Search.

Download newer versions if you care to reinstall them after testing.

If there's no change in uTorrent after uninstalling both...then they may not be the problem.

Yahoo! Toolbar and Google Toolbar are on your computer as well. If you don't use them, definitely uninstall them...because they're good at sucking up CPU speed as well.

I don't recall ever seeing Yahoo! Search Protection before. Is that a software firewall?

Only other thing I can remotely think of that might be a problem is Download Accelerator Pro (DAP). In the past, that program was terrible and full of spyware. Supposedly it is better now and spyware-free. But it may somehow mess up uTorrent, since it can also be a very heavy network user.
