Says "waiting to login," red arrows, nothing's downloading

Anything I attempt to download doesn't even start it says waiting to login. I'm NOT sure if this is a utorrent issue/conflict with my computer or just a computer issue in general. I DO have a problem with some programs like AIM or Yahoo or google earth where-by some I cant download at all (it says I'm not online-even though I am) and others I can download but can't start-this has been an on going problem that anyone has yet to figure out....SOOO- I'm not sure if this issue has something to do with that or otherwise. I have utorrent 1.4 and have been able to use that version just fine, but every time I download a newer version than that it never works. Looking for a little hair pulling relief. Even just a point in the right direction would help. I've tried turning off my firewalls, adjusting them, (Regular windows vista firewall, and Mcafee) and it still doesnt work.

Does uninstalling your software firewall (McAfee) help?

We don't support 1.4 as it's older than dirt and has a number of unpatched security holes.

No-that didn't produce any different results...I feel like I'm just missing it like a setting is wrong somewhere...but I cant figure it out....It's almost like this account isn't an administrator account also but under the users its labeled as one...there are several programs I have to right click and hit open as administrator or it won't work. When I try to just click on utorrent it gives me a message that says "rerun utorrent as an administrator and use the setting files from the same path as the utorrent executable" as an option because I get an error message that says "settings files were found in the same directory as utorrent, but you do not have the appropriate permissions to write them"
