Possible forwarding problem solution

I have been lurking in here for about three weeks or so because I have had the same problem that most people here have. My ports would not forward no matter what I did.

I finally clicked the logger tab...... It said that it could not access window's firewall.

I had previously disabled all the services that contribute and or run window's firewall. It was a simple matter of enabling "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)", and my ports were no longer blocked.

I can't say I understand why disabling the firewall would block my ports, but hey maybe it will work for you too.

1 Open Utorrent and start a torrent

2 Check the logger tab after a few minutes, If it says "[2008-08-01 17:45:41] Error opening Windows firewall: 0x80070005 Access is denied" or something similar then this may be your problem.

3 follow this path"

control panel > administrative tools > services

4 find "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)". It is in Alphabetical order by default, so it shouldn't be hard.

5 Double click on "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)"

6 You will find yourself with a new screen. In the general tab of that screen make sure that "Startup" is set to "Automatic"

7 Move to the "Log On" tab and make sure it is set to "Enabled" under the "Hardware Profiles" section.

8 Go back to the general tab, and click "start" If you are not able to click start, then the process is already running, and this was not your problem.
