fuchur
hey there...i've tried searching the forums but i couldnt find anything so i registered to find some answers..whenever i am seeding a torrent and there are various leechers present (10-20 or even up to 50), i have a very slow upload speed although i dont limit my connection and the correct port is forwarded and the tracker sees me as "connectable" all the timei'm sitting on a 30mbit line (with only 2mbit upload though) and im using private trackers only...disabled dht etc.etc.common situations when i'm seeding30 seeders - 20 leechers - 1-5kb/s upload only70 seeders - 15 leechers - 1-5kb/s upload only.......etc etcsometimes my upload peaks my connection speed but never remains thereso all in all: can i MAKE ppl leech from me? is there some way to make leeching from me more attractive for peers?i've tried latest utorrent 1.7 build as well as the last some 1.8 beta buildsthe only solution i can currently think of is that all the other seeds seeding with me usually have a VERY high upload speed - which means, that my upload might not bee needed atall...nevertheless there should always be ppl at least trying to download from me, shouldnt it?thank you for your help and i hope this is not as bad as all those "no download speed" posts
mikemyerz666
i'm in the same boat my friend. I JUST registered to the uTorrent forums and i need answers as well. I have a 7mb speed and i'm pretty much the only one in my house who uses the net, so i dont mind all of that going to uploading/downloading, whatever. But i'm uploading around 10 things as a time and my upload speed (total across all my seeding torrents) is always at highest 90kbps. I remember at one time it being higher and i don't know what the deal is. I'm seeding things with few seeders and many leechers, the only way i get a specific torrent to upload faster is to stop all other torrents and let it upload alone, but still not above 90kbps. I have uTorrent 1.7.6, and i HAD 1.7.7, but both are the same. Anyone help out? I set my global upload rate to unlimited (at one point i had it at 1120 but still no change), my download rate is perfectly fine, but i just want to seed more. If anyone can answer fuchur's question that would be great.

fuchur
now he answered your question but not mine it also seems to me that 90 is your max...but i'm not even remotely hitting my ~150 upload which i should have
Switeck
Test other torrents on public trackers that have very low seeders and LOTS of peers. We need to eliminate bad-by-design private tracker seed-peer ratios as the cause of your problem. metzi
Hello!I've got a similiar problem with a capped upload speed, independent on how many leechers the torrent has, I only reach speeds between 100-124 kbit/s.I'm not sure but I think this happend after updating to vista sp1 (ultimate 32-bit).Before my upload was usually somewhere above 700 kbit/s.Download is still fine and my port is forwarded properly.I also did a speedtest and everything was alright. My ISP is Com Hem (sweden) 24mbit/s down and 8mbit/s up.I've tried some utorrent speedguides without any noticeable change.Maybe I should note that I also tried to get hamachi working with a old game. This involved using route -f and changing MTUs. But I don't think that should have an impact on utorrent alone?I used to have a good upload ratio on all my torrents and trackers, but if I can't find a solution, I'll just turn into another leecher.Almost forgot...my utorrent version is 1.7.7 and I've tested 1.8 candidate 6. Switeck
uTorrent's download and upload speeds are in KiloBYTES/second.
metzi
Oh my bad. I guess utorrent is innocent...darn. So this means it's my computer. Anyone got an idea what might cause my slower upload speed?
Switeck
If you've really got 8 megabits/second upload bandwidth, then your upload speed should be capable of at least 900...possibly even just over 1000 KiloBYTES/second.If you're only getting 100-124 KiloBYTES/second upload speed now, you may very well have something wrong. Try the 2nd link in my signature...start with 1 megabits/second upload setting and see if values up to the ones used in the 5 megabits/second upload setting work ok.I guess cable lines could be as fast as you have, but ADSL as far as I know can't upload faster than maybe 3 megabits/second. Either that or you have Ethernet to the home or fiber.
mikemyerz666
thanks for the help on my 90kb connection but is there a way i can make the cap on the connection higher? i could have sworn when i have only a 3mb connection that i could upload faster, and now i have a 7mb connection. Firon
That refers to your download speed. Your upload is completely different.
mikemyerz666
i tried that speed guide button through utorrent and it said 250 upload and around 700 for download, i'd like to get my maximum upload.
Firon
Did you do that with utorrent closed? And is that 250 in kbit or kbyte?
mikemyerz666
250 was what i had with it running, and it was a negative so i dont know what that means, but i just did it again with it closed and this is what i got, 5825 Kb/s for download, and for upload 629 Kb/s. It says nothing about bits or bytes. There is no negative for the upload this time.
Switeck
"for upload 629 Kb/s"That's 629 kilobits/second upload speed max.2nd link in my signature...try the 640 kilobits/second upload settings.
