Vard
We have some problems with the new version 1.8. We have an internal network addresses 10.152.0.0/16 with more than 20 thousand users and their tracker. Some users do not have access to the Internet. These users "Network Status" bitmap in the program uTorrent always red. This is of concern to users. With versions of programs for 1.8 alpha everything is fine. Please do in the new versions is an option to use the old port testing algorithm (for example net.old_port_testing_algorithm true / false). Thank you in advance.
DreadWingKnight
Do these users get incoming connections from within the network?
Vard
Yes. Now I closed the port to the Internet with open port in the WAN (10.152.0.0/16), the icon immediately became red. Incoming connections from the network 10.152.0.0/16 present, according to the firewall logs.
Firon
LAN peers aren't counted for connectability status, and correctly so.They aren't actually connectable to the internet. In all honesty, this is a non-issue, since it's a visual thing only.
Vard
FironClearly. Now just counted incoming connections from all addresses, except "Private Use" IP addresses 10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255, 172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255, 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255? Or is now open port checking through some online service, which connects uTorrent after start? If true the first assumption, it is unclear why those addresses "threw" in version 1.8. In versions 1.6.1-1.7.7 incoming connections from Private IPs counted as usual.
Firon
They aren't counted anymore because it gives a false reading of connectability status (particularly when dealing with local peers obtained through local peer discovery).
