user080812 Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Can't connect to any trackers with utorrent 1.8 stable released Version 1.8 (build 11758). (Had the same problem with uTorrent 1.8 Release Candidate 1 build 11200.)Tried with firewall off & Antivirus shield stopped. Also tried changing the DNS server. Checked PeerGuardian was not blocking. Now I've gone back to 1.7.7, trackers again connect OK.Using Win98 (4.10.1998), AVAST version 4.8 home edition build 4.8.1229 (only the standard shield is installed), Look 'n' Stop 1.04 beta 01, PeerGuardian 2.0 Beta 5.Is there anything else I can try?
schnurlos Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Perhaps the same as here? http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=44061
user080812 Posted August 12, 2008 Author Report Posted August 12, 2008 Ok, thanks for the link. Jaelanicu only has problem when using HTTPS proxy for trackers. My utorrent Connection setting is Proxy Server type: (none)Tried builds 1159 & 1160, still no connection to trackers.Extract from Build 1159 DNS log ...[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: Resolving eztv.tracker.thepiratebay.org[2008-08-12 11:54:19] OnDnsLookupDone: error:1003 IP:0.0.0.0:0[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: result: 0[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: IP: 77.247.176.154[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: IP: 77.247.176.154[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: Resolve done, 2 IPs[2008-08-12 11:54:19] DEBUG: Can't route 77.247.176.154: Cannot complete this function. (Build 1160 log shows similar errors)This time, after returning to 1.7.7, I got tracker error 10048 - but a few minutes later trackers all connected again.
user080812 Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 Quitting LNS does not solve the problem. So, is some process left running when I quit LNS? Can't see anything in Process Explorer. ( Using the last free version of LNS with no application filtering.)And if LNS must go, what to replace it with on Win98?
Firon Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Unfortunately, they add NDIS filters and other nonsense so they stay hooked even when when "disabled". Just give uninstalling a try, and then reinstall and start with a clean slate.Honestly, you should just update to Windows 2000. I don't know what supports Windows 98.
