rudboy
I am experiencing very slow down speeds....about 15k to 22k. I've followed the instructions on port forwarding and I do have the green check icon in utorrent indicating that my port forwarding is functioning properly.I've not used any P2P torrent clients so I'm woefully new and have no clue what to do to get speeds up. The file is 9.33gb and I'm only downloading this one file. What do you need from me to help out? Thanks!
Switeck
Tell us more about your settings/computer/network.1st and 2nd links in my signature explains that in detail...
rudboy
I read some of the guides in your sig even further and found that I was having the tcpip.sys, 4226 problem. My DL speeds have gone from about 20-30k to 75k-just over 100k. My question is...is that a pretty good download speed? Here are some of the Torrents current stats:Size: 9.33gbSeeds: 14 of 115 Connected (1295 in swarm)Peers: 78 of 3234 connected (6658 in swarm)Download Speed: 87k UnlimitedUpload Speed: 47K UnlimitedAvailable: 36.999I don't understand exactly what these all mean...but there they are.Let me know if you need anything else, but the 4226 fix did help alot. Switeck
You probably need the settings for the 384 kilobits/second max upload speed from the chart in the 2nd link of my signature. You may be able to raise the upload speed a little without any lag problems...but best to do that with the alternate (seeding only) upload speed. rudboy
Ok here is an update. I am using a Linksys WRT54G router Version 4. I didn't really want to but I followed the guides and installed the latest DD-WRT firmware successfully after much nail biting. Results...I'm now seeing a solid download speed increase and as a bonus my overall internet browsing seems to be faster as well!Question: Other than forwarding the ports in the new DD-WRT bios I've not made any setting changes. Are there some changes I can make in DD-WRT that would boost download performance? Thanks in advance.
GTHK
TCP and UDP timeouts, reduce to 120 each on the administration page. You can also raise the max number of connections to its highest.
rudboy
Thanks will do. And by the way...this is a very helpful forum, it does take a while to absorb all this info but the information here does work. Not that I have the fastest download at the moment, but I have gone from about 10k constant to speeds that reach over 100k at times. The file that was going to take weeks to download should now be done tomorrow some time. rudboy
It's a huge file...9.33 GB. I've been hitting some speeds of over 200k at times. I should be done downloading sometime today.
Switeck
That's a lot better speeds than you mentioned on the other post you commented on a couple days back.
rudboy
Yeah right now I'm hitting over 200k regularly, and its all due to following the guides on this site. I think the biggest single improvement was flashing my old Linksys WRT54G with the DD-WRT firmware, that alone brought me from about 60-70k to 150k - 200k.Thanks again for all the help!/cheer
