Linksys WRT54G firmwares comparison?

Hello,

I have WRT54G version 3

I was wondering which firmware is best for it.

HyperWRT

DD-WRT

Tomato

is there a comparison?

Can I get some opinions on them?

DD-WRT is bloated, but may have some useful features found nowhere else... It has wider hardware support. It's like the Azureus of firmwares. I've had issues with it, so I don't use it -- others have been fine with it, though.

Tomato is lightweight, simple, and not filled to the brim with features, but has the ones that really count for most users. It's more like the µTorrent of firmwares.

HyperWRT... dunno... BitTornado of sorts? It's outdated, but decent.

I prefer/use Tomato because of its simplicity and reliability. I don't require anything too fancy.

Tomato seems to be the best. It goes a very long time without requiring a restart. Factory firmware required a restart multiple times every day or webpages would timeout.

I've been using Tomato for months now and am very happy with it. Under Advanced, I change the Time Wait from the default value to 120 seconds. That makes the most difference -- to me anyway -- when using Bittorrent. Having a big value for Time Wait seems to kill a lot of routers. And many routers do not have a way to reduce the TIME WAIT value so it ends up being useless for Bittorrent use.

I highly recommend Tomato, it's great. I've been using it for about 9 months now with no problems. Twice I've had uptime (no crashes or restarts) of over 100 days, and even in those cases I only restarted to install an update.
