lensch Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 This is slightly different. I have XP and Panda 2007 Firewall. 1.75 was working fine with port forwarding and satisfactory speeds. I got 1.8. Had a little problem installing it, but got it to run. Looked different since used different font. Would not connect to anything. Uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted ,etc. No joy. Reinstalled 1.75. Same as 1.8 - would not connect. Noticed my fire wall was down. Would not start up. Went to Panda installation file and used it to repair firewall. Now 1.75 works.I'm willing to troubleshoot 1.8, but only if I get some help. What order should I do what?len
DreadWingKnight Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 in uT:Help - check for updatesRe-do the firewall rules for uT after the update. We won't support 1.7.x
lensch Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 When I try to use Help - Check for updates, I get The μtorrent updater failed, the error is : The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
Firon Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Try updating manually, though it's likely that Panda is blocking µTorrent from updating itself. Try switching to Comodo firewall or something.
lensch Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Sorry, I went to Process Explorer and closed down all discretionary processes and then the updater worked and this time 1.8 worked even without changing the rules. I think the interfering process was Pando. Thanks for your help.len
