Lorden Darkblade Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Is it true that with 1.8 if you limit the upload speed the download speed will, automatically, be limited too?
Firon Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Only at very low caps. 1-5kbyte/s for global upload.
Lorden Darkblade Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 So in the Configuration > Bandwith > Global Upload Rate Limit. My one is limited at 60kb/s I should be fine right?
Firon Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 Yeah, that upload cap is fine. The limits only kick in when you cap it to 1-5kbyte/s.
Switeck Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 If you set your upload speed max too high for your connection, your resulting download speed may ALSO be limited because your connection's overloaded.Limiting individual torrent's upload speed max below 4 KiloBYTES/second will also limit download speed to 12 times your upload speed for those torrents only. (Really, at 3 KiloBYTES/second...that's still allowing 36 KiloBYTES/second download!)
Lorden Darkblade Posted August 15, 2008 Author Report Posted August 15, 2008 Ok then.IF I limit my upload speed individually on a torrent I'll limit to something like 10kb/s.I think that should be fine then...
Switeck Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 I almost never limit individual torrents upload speeds and instead use priority and max upload slots. I set ones I want to go slower to 1 upload slot and LOW priority. In the instance of setting individual upload speeds, it is very likely to result in global upload speed max not being reached.Say for instance there are 2 torrents running and limited to 10 KiloBYTES/second...with a global upload limit of 20 KiloBYTES/second. If for any reason, 1 torrent only uploads at 7 KiloBYTES/second, the total upload speed is only allowed to reach 17 KiloBYTES/second -- not the 20 max. If you're trying to seed to get your ratios up on private websites, that can end up being pretty wasteful.
Soonthorn Maneein Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 How to fix the problem " Listen error " and updating?
Switeck Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 www.portforward.com should have your router and possibly your modem on their lists...and tell how to set them up for uTorrent. You may also have software firewalls (even hidden in your antivirus/antispyware software!) that is blocking uTorrent. These too need to be configured or uninstalled.
