beoren
I've noticed when I download torrents with uTorrent, the speed graph shows that the upload and download speeds oscillate from full speed to nothing with a regular frequency. Below is an image of my speed graph. This isn't really a problem for me, since the torrents do download at a reasonable overall speed, but I'm curious what's causing this. Does anyone have any ideas?http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y102/mtusk/crazyuploadspeed.jpgThanks.
Firon
You need to cap your upload speed to 70-80% of your connection's maximum. Generally, when it's not capped properly, you'll get unstable speeds.
thelittlefire
Is your line limited to 1.5Mbit/sec TOTAL bandwidth? ... cap your upload to 50. Does the download stay consistent? What if you cap it to 30? 20? 15? Does the download increase past 1Mbit/sec?Also what Ctrl-G settings are you using?
Switeck
2nd link in my signature gives more conservative uTorrent settings. It helps for the unstable/unreliable connections.
beoren
I think that solved it! I had never told uTorrent what my connection speed was, but now it knows. Thanks, those were very quick and helpful responses, I appreciate it. I have another question, but it's a different topic so I'll start a new thread. Switeck
About how much did your download speed improve once you put in matching settings for your connection?
