Lover Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Dear,I have a problem. When I start uTorrent (1.8 last release) on OS Vista SP1, I cannot browse or download with Internet Explorer. The internet sites are loading page long time with white screen. The sites do not load. uTorrent blocks the network trafic. In the uTorrent I dont have turned the max speed of my internet connection. When I turn of uTorrent, I can normal browse and download from internet on Internet Explorer. Thank you.Regards.
Switeck Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 You are in DIRE need of both the 1st and 2nd links in my signature. The 1st link will tell you what more information we'll need to help. The 2nd link are uTorrent settings to try based on your connection's max sustainable UPLOAD speed.Note: Upload is probably about 1/10th your max download!
Firon Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Please set net.max_halfopen in the advanced section of the config to 8 or less.
FireXtol Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 I had this problem when I didn't set limits on the up/download speed in uTorrent.I have 3 Mbps/384Kbps cable and use these limits: dl:300KB/ul:30KB Leaving plenty of bandwidth to browse.Quite possibly, lowering the number of concurrent connections could help. Options |Preferences | Bandwidth -> Global Maximum Number of Connections/Connections Per Torrent. I find the defaults work good on my cable(200 and 64, respectively). If you're on a shared network or just want to conserve bandwidth, then somewhere between 16-32(upto 4 torrents max, so 64-128 Global Max) works good. Downloads will take longer as you won't be attempting/establishing as many connections or using as much of your connection speed for P2P, but that's the goal.I found the above settings, usually 20-32 torrent connections and 128 max connections (upto 4-6 torrents active) worked well for downloading 'in the background' on 1.5 Mbit ADSL. Used the link quite efficiently.
