blindingnoise
Hi all,Recently updated utorrent to 8 and my speeds are just dead on all trackers. i can get a maximum of about 13kb when i normally get over the hundred on most trackers. I have checked all the windows firewall settings, have set the rules, the home firewall already has all the details for ports in it so that hasnt changed.....any ideas?(is a utorrent issue, tried a different torrent program and the speeds are a lot faster)
Switeck
What settings are you using in uTorrent? What is the speed of your line, both down and UP?
thelittlefire
Did you test the testing torrents OpenOffice or Slackware? http://slackware.com/torrents/ download one for a minute or two? Does it download as fast as you expect? Are you running any OTHER internet/networking intensive applications simultaneously?
Firon
Raise your upload cap.
blindingnoise
the settings for utorrent are exactly the same as they were before i switched to the new version, so nothing has changed. i used a different program and the torrents are fine, my upload cap wouldnt make a difference as all my settings are the same. this problem has only arisen since i upgraded to 1.08...well i think i read this right in another topic, but am i lead to believe its a program design to limit download speeds? if so wtf is up with that, why would you chance pissing off users? thelittlefire
YOU ARE ACTING LIKE A LEECHER. Use another protocol/method if you want to upload @ 1 KiBps.
MaxKohler
"if so wtf is up with that, why would you chance pissing off users?"rofl..................The cap only applies to users who limit their total upload speed to less then 5kBs/ which is extremely slow and retarded for anyone with a decent internet connection to do. So no reason to complain....
Switeck
The BitTorrent protocol requires people to share in the first place...except everyone who sets their upload speed really low are just trying to avoid that. But if you've got bandwidth to burn...might as well burn a little of it to speed up other people's downloads -- which should speed up yours as well!BitTorrent is based on a tit-for-tat (something-for-something) reward system. The faster you upload to someone, the higher the probability that they will upload to you AND faster than they upload to everyone else.
blindingnoise
well i do seed, i can only do it at a subtle and slow rate as ive been twice warned by my isp for uploading too much. doesnt matter anyway i wont be using utorrent anymore for that single reason....and wont be recommending it as a good program to use. as i said before, u are changing something that worked fantastically to begin with and people will be pissed at that
DreadWingKnight
Instead of complaining to us, complain to your isp that they aren't giving you what you paid for.
Firon
That being said, 1.8.1 doesn't do this anymore.
