SawyerX Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 I dont know whats happening now but just noticed it. My system is as follow:Intel Q9300, ASUS Motherboard, 8GB of memory, 8800GTVista 64, fresh installed with only the following addons,NERO,Daemontools, OpenOffice, NetLimiter, AVG antivirus, Logitech Profiler, Logitech setpoint and finally winrar.utorrent settings are set to 20Mbit in speedguide. It eventually climbs all the way to 7GB od usage after time.
Ultima Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Windows disk cache being dumb.Disable the Windows disk caching in Preferences > Advanced > Disk Cache. Be advised that this may slow transfer rates down if the µTorrent internal disk cache becomes full (until it gets flushed), but it beats getting your memory eaten up.If that doesn't help...a) get HijackThis from trendsecure.com, run it, view the log, and post the contents here get Process Explorer from sysinternals.com, run it, Ctrl+D (to show the lower DLL pane), select the µTorrent process from the list, Ctrl+S (and save the list somewhere you'll find easily -- like the Desktop), then post the contents of the saved process list in the .txt file here
SawyerX Posted August 18, 2008 Author Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yeah that disk chache seems to work now. But i cant remember me turning this on. Or maybe was this by default off in previous versions? Its now hanging at 1.30GB
Ultima Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 It was never an option in previous versions
andersanders Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 I had the same problem. Then i saw that i had two logfiles on C:, log_send.txt and log_recv.txt, the size on these two files was around 400GB together. When i deleted the files two new one was made, just set a write protection on the files and u have your memory back again.(bad english, i know)
DreadWingKnight Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 That's hard disk space, not memory.
andersanders Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 What do u think happens when windows i trying to work/write with two files that big?
DreadWingKnight Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Whatever is generating logs that big, you need to uninstall it about 4 years ago.
Firon Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Those files aren't generated by utorrent. Something else on your system is making it.
