sina_t97 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I am just one of the many people who have suddenly had download/upload issues with the new version of uTorrent (1.8)I do not limit my uploadI have all my ports forwardedThis happens on every torrent I tryMy internal IP has not changedAll of my settings are the same...EXCEPT the fact that I updated to 1.8I have tried uninstalling and doing a fresh installMy firewall is configured correctlyMy solution: uTorrent v1.8 either has some issue with Windows, routers, or ISP'sEither way, this needs to be fixed. So, I am not here asking for a solution because I have tried EVERYTHING to my knowledge and nothing has helped. I am here however to ask for a uTorrent v1.9.PS: I understand uTorrent is a free program and you guys don't get paid, but I might as well bring up the issue. In other words, no disrespect.Something I find rather funny to prove my point further:When searching on my Firefox Google bar and just typing the word "uTorrent", (which shows the most used/popular words), "utorrent 1.8 slow" and "utorrent slow downlaod" both come up.
Firon Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 What firewall do you use?And these threads happens with every single release. It's nothing new. Also, the only way to really do a fresh install is to clear out %AppData%\uTorrent. An uninstall won't do that.
sina_t97 Posted August 19, 2008 Author Report Posted August 19, 2008 I have windows firewall. And I believe that the %AppData%\uTorrent folder was cleared by my uninstalling program (Your Uninstaller 2008).However, a breakthrough: I and I'm sure many others, reported this speed problem after about 30 minutes of poor download speeds. However after recently leaving a torrent which I THOUGHT to be slow on for about 2 hours I saw speeds of 150+. However my upload is at .1 for some reason, and I have limit at 30. No doubt something is fishy here but just thought I'd share my experience.
noamericano Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 yeah, all my torrents are slow to, now im not sure if it's cause of this version but can someone tell me how i can downgrade back to last version which i think is 1.7.7, i just can't stand the speed im getting now, it's like 3x slower. but the upload speed is 1/4 slower which doesn't reely make sense but thats whats going on.
ketan00it Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Hi,I am also having problem after upgrading 1.8Now I am tried to install 1.7 but that is also not working now.Download is not able to start.I have windows vista default firewall. Please suggest me.Thanks,Ketan Patel.
thelittlefire Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Did you try http://slackware.com/torrents/ ? What does the tracker status say in the Trackers tab?
Switeck Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 ComCast disrupts BitTorrent traffic, though previously they only messed with it much if you were only seeding. If you see peers/seeds disconnecting very quickly, it may be the ISP.
opsknight Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Yeah, not seeing any slowdown using 1.8 here. I have Cox Premiere and can get 1.0mbps to 1.3mbps down and 125kbps up on a single torrent.
Switeck Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 opsknight, those are terrible speeds! You should be getting 8-10 times that amount!Or did you mix up bits for BYTES?
opsknight Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 LOL..dang it..I just saw that..yeah Bytes not Bits
sina_t97 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Is it just me or is uTorrent 1.8 suddenly working. I dont know but i just started a torrent today and i was downloading at 300 and uploading at 30 in no time. I dont know what was wrong with it to begin with or how it got fixed, im just happy it did. cheers.
Guest Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Everytime I read that someone tried "everything" I just "roflmao".
sina_t97 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 octopuss i dont enjoy your comment because it sounds like you are trying to be a know it all nerd. usually when someone says they tried everything it means everything TO THEIR KNOWLEDGE. If they were to literally have tried everything then they would have fixed the problem. dont take things so literally and keep your comments to yourself.
Guest Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 No, I neither am nor I try to act like one. This is just THE golden sentence of the internets. And I think I can comment as much as I want as long as it's not offensive, which, in this case, isn't. And remember sentence #2: "incompetence was here before drama"Friendly tip: Have you tried, for example, deleting (backing them up first of course) ALL settings and starting up fresh? Just to test. Who knows.
