dudeboyz Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 380 works fine, but 390 clears out the folder settings entries when I exit and start it again. Not good.
Inf Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 yes, it seems to reset some bunch of settings to defaults, ludde already knows about it and is currently fixing it
dudeboyz Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 I'm glad to hear it.Oddly, it seems that 386, 389 and 390 just don't work right for me on Windows 98 SE in particular. 380 seems to do a better job for me.Hope that they iron out these bugs. I'm surprised bugs like these got through the testing phase. So many changes so fast seem to increase the frequency of bugs. I do really dig Utorrent, but lately things are not looking so good...
1c3d0g Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 ...I'm surprised bugs like these got through the testing phase....Uhm...it's still a Beta for a reason... :|
Firon Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 dudeboyz: don't use the betas then. It's a beta for a reason, any number of bugs can happen, even as far as deleting all your torrent data. Stick to stable so you don't have to test the bugs!
SledgeDG Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 Exactly!!! This IS the testing phase after all :D
Redleer Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I'm glad to hear it.I'm surprised bugs like these got through the testing phase.386, 389 and 390 is all beta versions for reason. those havent passed beta testing phase when theyr still beta versions. 364 is latest non beta version if you havent noticed yet.

Some internal quality control?
Firon Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 You use betas at your own risk. Seriously, if you look at any place offering betas, they have no guarantees whatsoever and say you use it at your own risk.
dudeboyz Posted January 6, 2006 Author Report Posted January 6, 2006 I was just trying to help evaluate, and any "criticism" I put in is in that spirit. To be told to basically "go away and don't bother us if you are going to complain" is kind of a put-off, ya know?
Firon Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 If you want to help, test it and find bugs, but don't -complain- when something that's in development (hence the name beta, not final) won't work well/at all for you.
dudeboyz Posted January 7, 2006 Author Report Posted January 7, 2006 If you want to help, test it and find bugs, but don't -complain- when something that's in development (hence the name beta, not final) won't work well/at all for you.ok
Firon Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 We're not telling you to go away, we're telling you to be helpful if you're gonna test.
chaosblade Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Complaining about bugs in a beta release, private or public, is seriously a display of cluelessness in the software world.
Firon Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 All his double posts cleared. PunBB is funny.
1c3d0g Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Yeah, once I kept triple-posting. Incredibly annoying!
Ultima Posted January 7, 2006 Report Posted January 7, 2006 Just remember that if the time and post ID is the same, then it's all PunBB's fault (oh I'm all too familiar with that phenomenom xD)If the "multi-poster" logs off, the double-post should be cleared (at least my experience has showed me that so far).
DaGuesingman Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 I was seeing the same problem, yet since I only turn client off about once a day I wasn't sure if it was just I hadn't entered values (on 390 build) and I was going to report it as it is.....a bug and sure I'm aware that things get fixed at a rapid pace on the betas this particular bug could be rather severe to a user. Now on 398 and will make sure to keep an eye on it. It's not like I'm checking here to see if bugs are found but hoping to help by using the beta and reporting how it works/or in this case doesn't. Don't take it the wrong way but just by reading the original posters 2nd statement most should have figured it wasn't from someone who is "up" on everything and the simple "we found the problem and are fixing it" was all that was needed in a reply. Yet also in the same topic a "regular" makes a faux paus and it's all good 'cuz You know of the user, and of course no it's not the members fault yet the picking on isn't as severe. We might need to remember that not all are all knowing or legends in our own minds and not to look down on those whom you see as "below" you because you never know that lesser might turn out to be your boss or worse your Mom/neghbor/ect.
BadGuy Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Complaining about bugs in a beta release, private or public, is seriously a display of cluelessness in the software world. Now that is a display of cluelessnessIt's a bug it should be reported and it might be obvious but a bug is not good. I don't think that it's a good thing that a feature like this is not working properly in such a way. Ofcourse it's probably just 'overlooked' and not big enough for an immediate new release. It's just a shame, but I think you are cutting the dev short blaming it all on the 'beta' status
Firon Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 BadGuy: complaining is not the same as reporting a bug. Complaining is bitching needlessly. We welcome bug reports, but not needless bitching.
BadGuy Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 380 works fine, but 390 clears out the folder settings entries when I exit and start it again. Not good. saddidn't look like bitching to me so that's the reason for my commentIt seems that the settings aren't written to the .dat file by the way, I tried blocking access to the file after saving my settings, but that had no effect at all. So it's waiting on a next (beta) version
Animorc Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 This is needless bitching:I'm surprised bugs like these got through the testing phase....I do really dig Utorrent, but lately things are not looking so good...
chaosblade Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Exactly my point, Thanks for the explenation while im away Animorc & Firon.
