Utorrent crashing Windows Vista (32bit)

Used utorrent for over a year now. Now that I have upgraded to 1.8 I have a major problem. When I run it, it freezes my PC and I have to hard-reboot. I was reading about the AMD x2 bug, Does this problem affect vista also? Might take a few mins to an hour but it does lock it up every time. Had no problems with any other version, and been using this Pc for a year using utorrent. spyware/virus software reports are fine, HJT logs are fine. Even tried using the settings in that mods. signature. Still freezes the PC. Thought it might be AVG or something, so i uninstalled it and use avira now, and still the same problem. It SEEMS to me that the problem is only when I start seeding, or downloading. My PC specs are : HP model a6333w. AMD 64x2/4 gb ram/ nvidia 9800 gpu/ antec 550w power supply. I am currently using Vuze with no problems untill I can again use utorrent. Also, I have uninstalled utorrent and reinstalled it 3 times with no help. Have you tried bypassing the windows disk cache in ut's disk cache preferences?

I assume you've gone through the basics of updating your drivers and BIOS? And checked for overheating.

Don't use the auto upload. Pick an upload that's around 70% of your connection max.

Still having the same problem,even changed it to 50% of my upload after 70% still didn't work.

... Pivot software is injected into your EXE. Can you stop it before running uTorrent? Does the crashing always happen after a certain amount of time running? Does it still crash when you start up uTorrent and do NOTHING in the client?

Have you ever got an actual (mini)dump from windows from these problems? I know you can force uT to crashdump, not sure about windows.

The pivot software is for my display drivers. I just isolated the problem to a specific torrent. I did this by manually adding ALL torrents I have on the HD. When I add, we will use this as an example, death.torrent, it starts checking the files, then, after about 1 min, it locks up. ONLY on that torrent.All other torrents act as they should. Does the exact same this when i use Vuze so I now know that it isn't client related, its torrent related. Any Ideas?

already done numerous times. Like i said, it is that one torrent. Wondering why. I have no other problems what so ever with this PC. My knowledge is pretty good when it comes to PCs, so i am wondering if the torrent might be corrupt? or, when the torrent clients are checking the files for that torrent, a fatal error occurs?

The fact it's not related to client suggests it's a hardware thing though... since AFAIK there's no exploits in the bencoded .TORRENT spec for "pieces"...

When you're checking the torrent, or interacting with it in any way, have you checked process explorer to verify the throughput on the drive? It's not an external drive in any way right? Yeah, I'm stumped as well :/

Do you know what changed with Az to make it from 8/26--A-OK! to today 8/30--Same ?? That'd be my next avenue of investigation.... hell, I'd even go so far as to use ProcMon (also @ http://sysinternals.com ) create a log, start uT, start torrent.... wait for freeze, and hope the log dumps the data from the questioned torrent before the disk i/o halts.

The thing that changed was that i added this one torrent, that i hadn't added sence i installed AZ. As soon as i added that torrent, it started freezing. im going to try and use procmon, never have before. Just open it and then open utorrent and it will dump when it messes up?

Will it auto save it when/if it dumps? Or is there an option i need to set.

Well some ppl here are definitely giving bad advice. How's limiting upload speed supposed to help when uTorrent 1.8+ versions are crashing under Windows Vista?

Btw. my uTorrent stopped working few days ago aswell. Using Windows Vista X64 Ultimate SP1
