utorrent always says access denied

as i installed utorrent 1.8 on my new vista premium 64-bit computer i was very hopeful, but little did i know that an evil force lurked within it that would let me download torrents halfway and then stop suddenly with its evil curse "Access is denied"

tips help and anything would be appreciated

ive read about windows indexing and a few other programs that are said to halt utorrent and cause errors like this but i do not know if i have them installed or not, i ordered computer clean with only the necessary programs for the computer to run, but yet something is wrong.

(Does the Access Denied happen on all files, or only those of a certain type?)

Lots of commercial software is not very professional...so "clean" is only a relative term.

Roxio and Nero have file indexers that are annoying as heck, causing access denied to uTorrent and LOTS of other programs.

Even Microsoft Windows has a file indexer...and sometimes it too can cause problems with uTorrent.

Also i am 100% sure that there are no extra programs, it came from a custum dealer neamed LU computers and when i recieved it there was only like 10 files in program files, the only one i didnt recognize as a system folder was jm(it doens have any files in it)

it was denyin all at random times, after about the first deny on 3 (they were only at like 5%) i stopped them and now i only have one left at about 65% and using force start i can go for about 2 mins and then it says access denied again,

i also looked at another topic and i see that a d-link router might cause problems? i use one and would this router be the problem? and how do i disable or even know if im using a upnp

also in some strings why does it say (file missing) how does it know about it if it isnt there?

Same as a "bridge out" sign...just because it's missing there are ways to know it WAS there. And equally not good for 2-way traffic.

Your problem is probably a file indexer (Windows more than likely)...or a rootkit trojan/virus.

File missing in your case is due to Windows/HJT not keeping track of the links since it's an x64 system instead of just 32-bit

regarding the problem, are you sure you have correct privileges in the folder(s) you are using to save the torrents and data?

im the only user on my computer and also the admin so it has full access and then i also save it on a portable drive(needed more space on old comp and it seemed like a good idea, also old comp just broke today, it doesnt start up anymore...) and i dont think i have any viruses, but im not saying i dont, as of i dont have an antivirus yet, but i have really only been on a select few of internet sites consisting of Torrentz.com, and tracker sites, google, urban dictionary, utorrent.com and rapidshare (download rzr-crysis.???)

unless another program is letting viruses in (have tried a few antivirus programs such as bitdefender but they have error cannot run on 64-bit OS)if you know of any 64-bit good av pragrams any help would be greatly appreciated

no one says anything on telling how to find or how to turn off windows indexer, so im clueless on that category,

rapidshare is slow when you have to get 65 files....

oh well back to cnc generals again, no online, wtf whered it go???

So, you double-checked that your folder heirarchy gives your profile/name full read-write access on all files?

I won't speak of specific sites you mentioned but if you're 1) using windows and 2) using IE you should be careful visiting any site on the net not prefixed by http://google.com In all seriousness no-AV is bad and your old PC dying may be coincidence but is ultimately irrelevant I think to the task at hand.

Downside.. I don't know what else to try since the computer looks clean. As far as the windows indexer... it should be accessible from start > run > services.msc

about the laptop thing, i just like saying random stuff like that, i find it makes it interesting

I'm looking through the threads and I don't see anything I should delete (indexes.) Its a two day old computer and works in top shape with the exception of uTorrent.

Well access denied means you're either saving to somewhere you don't have permission to, OR you have software which is keeping uTorrent from KEEPING those files open to write to.

First thing I'd try is run utorrent as admin. Often you don't have permissions to write to folders as a normal user.

I am admin on this PC. I'm Saving the files to C:\Program Files\uTorrent\Downloads, where as it was C:\Program Files\Bit Comet\Downloads before (on XP) If it is software I have no clue which it might be.

Program Files is not user-writeable on Vista. You must be admin, but REALLY should save to your \Users folder maybe under \Downloads

C:\Users\xx\Downloads is where I changed it to in Prefs. I'm still geting the Access is Denied message though.

Can you list steps for me to try and solve this problem? And can I turn off the Windows notifications of actions I do?

So in the Preferences, you used the ellipses (...) and clicked to select your folder, correct? I wish I could give you exact steps but I don't use Vista. Can you double check the properties in explorer, for your \Downloads folder under your username... make sure you see WRITE privileges for at LEAST your username, READ is usually on for all... but I could be wrong.
