Yes 1.8 has been released as stable as well as an update for 1.8.1 beta (if you have beta updates enabled).Have you used http://utorrent.com/setup_guide.php to make sure your client is setup for your connection?Search box in uTorrent is http://utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_that_magnifying_glass_and_box_for.3F and you can add new search engines in Preferences..
