These were the actual errors in the tracker tab:

Some trackers had this error:

An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full.

the rest had:

offline(timed out)

My software:

utorrent 1.8 build 11813

XP sp3

I patched my TCPIP.sys file have set maximum connections to 50. This error does not show up as soon as i start downloading. All the arrows in the job list go red. The problem disappeared as soon as i restarted utorrent. All the trackers were up and running.

Here are the hijack.log file contents:

Hmm.... (Error 10055?) normally means that there are too many connections open on

either the server or viewer machine, meaning that the OS can't allocate

enough memory to manage them all. Try running netstat -an on both the

server and viewer when you see this error & check how many "established"

connections there are to other systems.

Third-party firewalls can also interfere, even though they're not currently 'active'

@theembryo

Could you please clarify as to what are client and viewer machines?? Will run netsat and post the results in about 8hrs. Can i instead post the tcpview file contents??

@dreadwingknight

I have avg anti-virus free 8.0.169. I have no firewall. Will post hijack and tcpview results in about 8hrs.

  • 2 weeks later...

i have this same problem. my tcpis.sys is patched for 100 and used to have utorrent net.max_halfopen set to 50. after this problem started happening (with 1.8) i set net.max_halfopen to 8 and am still having the same problems. i never had any problems with the 1.7 series... on the same machine and never changed any configurations.

i have:

utorrent 1.8 build 11758

windows xp sp3

all updates (made sure to recheck tcpip.sys after updating)

any ideas? i looked through the latest beta and it looks like some bugs related to this were fixed.. would that possibly fix my problem?

edit: i should also note i set my router's max number of connections to 4096 (dd-wrt) a long time ago and worked great in conjunction with 1.7 so i'm fairly certain it's not a router issue.

edit2: i also run nod32 2.7. could this be related? i've read in other threads about it causing problems and people getting HTTP 400 errors. i haven't got such errors, but thought i'd mention it.

@interconnect

Have you reset your tcpip.sys patch to 10, the windows default??

I reset the tcpip.sys to 10 and set net_max.halfopen to 8 simultaneously and utorrent was good as new. I am not sure what you mean by recheck your tcpip.sys. Download the patch to reset from here

Utorrent 1.7 gave no such problems even when i had patched my tcpip.sys to 50 and set net_max.halfopen to 50. So whatever that was ok with 1.7 might not go down well with 1.8. It might be that or my upgrade to sp3 from sp2 is to be blamed. I am not sure.
