dolbysnoopy
I learnt this OS is opensource and can run NT binaries but I haven't time to try, does it work with ReactOS?
Ultima
I believe it shares its compability libraries with Wine, so if Wine can run it, ReactOS might be able to. Either way, though, ReactOS is too early in its development to make usage viable O.o
dolbysnoopy
Haven't tried yet, but saw some screenshots of well known programs. If it's stable and support most win32 programs, I'll use it.
splintax
Well, µT works with WINE, though apparently the graphics have "severe glitches" or something.
Ultima
@dolbysnoopy: ReactOS definitely isn't stable, API-wise. It still doesn't support a lot of the Windows APIs, and is constantly changing. There's no point using ReactOS until it becomes more mature. I think I can recall reading on the ReactOS website that v0.4 or v0.5 or above was supposed to be the target for API completion, but I don't remember too clearly anymore. dolbysnoopy
splintax: any screenshot of ut under wine? is it stable?ultima: i don't think WINE is good to run win32 apps under unix, I've used earlier versions before and config is difficult for new users. Windows is changing in fast pace by Microsoft, I don't need an advanced OS anyway for desktops, just a simple stable NT4/2K compatible OS is ok for me.I don't have a spare system for testing purpose if reactos is not stable and changing from time to time I consider to use back MS windows. splintax
I believe 1c3d0g is a full-time desktop Linux user (I just have Knoppix ) so you might want to ask him for a screenshot, if he has tried µT under WINE. I was basing what I said on the FAQ.. which appears to be updated. It's reported to work under Cedega with some issues (blue bars in Pieces and Files tab don't work, update function fails, minimize has a slight bug) if you use "Big Exe" and "Win98" mode. Wine may or may not work: it crashes instantly for some users. Before there was something about severe graphic glitches...
Ultima
@dolbysnoopy: WINE is about as compatible as ReactOS (as I said, they share compatibility libraries). Although you may need a simple NT4/2K compatible OS, there is none out there. The only one is ReactOS, and it's nowhere near completion yet. It might run on ReactOS, but not all the features can be guaranteed to be working. I guess you can test it out if you want, but expect problems (and be surprised if there's none at all ;P)
dolbysnoopy
As it's not stable yet. I don't think it's worth to try as I'm very tired after work and I just want a free reliable OS machine to dl when I leave home.
Ultima
Heh I decided to try ReactOS v0.29 on VMWare Player... µTorrent didn't work -- it crashed and said that it was unable to generate crash dump. Blazingly fast boot-up time though (5-10 seconds O.O).
