Sorry Ultima i did not realize i mistyped it, 1c3d0g thanks for pointing it out sorry to both :-(.

Well i thought i was getting somewhere with this problem then someone shut the door in my face. I uninstalled zonealarm using the clean uninstall guide on the outpost forum and installed outpost using the clean install guide on the same forum. Low and be hold the ****ing problem is still there :-(.

So its not a specific torrent client, its not zonealarm or outpost, i guess ill try keiro and see if that helps. Any other ideas, thanks.

Thanks for that info! I just overlooked at it as part of NVIDIA graphics drivers...

If it doesn't cure 'That' problem it should at least speed up my net connection and boot/shutdown!

One thing I did before deleting that Forceware app was to wait a few minutes before shutting down. The Hard Drive light was still flashing for a good minute. I tried Utorrent during this time and it closed down OK, so maybe it's a catch up thing?!?

Using Options > Auto Shutdown makes it work perfectly, yet if I forget to use that option I guess it'll hang...

Shame there isn't an option to constantly leave the specified Auto Shutdown mode selected.

(EDIT) same problem.... :(

(EDIT)

if firstly I put it into Standby for as little as a second and bring it back out it'll shut down no problem. You can see the Modem lights blink out and fire back up, resetting it totally. Yet if I try and use the 'Safely Remove Hardware option' it fails to shut down.

At least I have found the root of the problem & don't have to keep holding the power button now, as I was afraid (that over time) this would somehow damage the hard-drive.
