scubaboy04
Utorrent is starting to be really unreliable on my computer, sometimes it works, but sometimes the availability bar turns red and the green ok icon in the bottom turns to a red sign and says that my internet isn't connected properly, when it is. How can I fix this?
Narmo23
What does the icon exactly tell you; by becoming red, for example, is it telling you that your port isn't opened? If your port isn't opened, you can easily remedy this by randomizing a new port. If it's still becoming red, then there's something closing your ports. Malware? Internet provider? Who knows. Hopefully it's not your service provider being a douche P.S. I'm assuming that your uTorrent is not DL'ing or UL'ing like it should, since your post is telling me that everything is turning red, thus not working. Or are you saying that uTorrent is just acting funny (i.e. telling you that it's not working right, though it really is)? Either way, if I misinterpreted something, it just means that you're not being specific enough. Thought I just throw this out just in-case. scubaboy04
No, it isn't downloading. What I meant to say was that it turns to a yellow sign, which says No incoming connections, unless the icon turns green it could mean a problem with your network configuration. Obviously it isn't my internet though, otherwise I wouldn't be posting this. :-D
Ultima
Check the first link in my signature regarding interrupted connections. Chances are good that you're overloading your connection, which can cause a firewalled-like state. If nothing there helps, do provide the information requested at the bottom of the link. scubaboy04
Ok, so the speed was way off, and when I changed it down, the icon turned green for awhile. It's gone back to yellow now, but that might just be because my internet is flaky. However, the availability bar is still red. What does that mean? mansrm81
Also a yellow icon also means no incoming peer connections it will turn green when there is an I in the flags in the peers tab.
scubaboy04
If you're looking for the info, here it is: I've tried the things listed in your post, i changed the speed to 1Mb, the light is yellow, port is 16147, which it says is working, it's at 1Mbit, net.max_halfopen says 8, I'm on xp, i have mcafee security center installed, my router is a dlink, but i dont know what the modem is, and im using verizon fios. Does this help?
Ultima
Try lowering net.max_halfopen to 4 or 2. And you don't specify whether you modified the DHT settings and other related options.
scubaboy04
I didn't modify DHT, how would I do that?
Ultima
If you need to ask this, I don't believe that you actually read my link carefully. It tells you specifically where to disable DHT and all of the other potentially important options.
scubaboy04
I did everything it says to do in the setup guide and checked everything else. It seems to be working now however.
