lavet
I hooked up a D-Link DI-604 and now my port isn't forwarding right. How do I correct this? I have tried to understand the FAQ, but i don't understand it. Please can someone help me????
thelittlefire
What part of the forwarding rule aren't you getting? Do you not know what IP to use? start > run > cmd /k ipconfig is the IP for the rule you make. The type should be either TCP or Both (TCP + UDP). Are you running DMZ? lavet
I am scared to wreck my computer, because i am suppose to go into internet connections and add things, thats what I don't like. What is DMZ?
thelittlefire
Oh, you don't change more than two settings. The default in Windows is "Obtain IP address automatically" .. this is DHCP (which means you don't configure anything). The other is "specify manually" aka manual forwarding.DMZ on the other hand stands for demilitarized zone, and is telling you "put this computer's IP beyond the protection of the router"... aka treat that IP address as if no router was there.
