If you're overloading 1 even for an instant the other can suffer considerably for much longer.Zone Alarm has been cause of lots of people's problems -- especially with 'high' security settings that decide to throw away alot of bittorrent traffic packets. Firon
No, I'd say to only cap the upload (besides, how often do you reach max download on torrents), not the download. Cap it to ~80% of your actual upload.

Switeck
please make global maximum upload rate "0" unlimitedWhy?He had that setting earlier and it wasn't working. It doesn't do any good to try to upload ANY faster than the connection can reach.I don't even think it's worth uploading any faster than your connection can SUSTAIN, which is often considerably lower than peak speeds. freebird2003
i was expecting 1.4 would solve my problem but after i upgrade to version 1.4, i am still having the same problem. is there any ideal port apart from 6881 - 6999 (typical torrent port) i can try. i am guessing that the problem may be the port but i might be wrong. plz help me thanks
Switeck
Do GOOGLE searches for problems with your ISP especially problems related to BitTorrent traffic.I'd use search terms like this:myISPname bittorrent problems throttle block
freebird2003
i can download openoffice torrent very fast. i can get almost 80kps. But other dls, i am getting crappy speed like 3kps for the download. So, does that still mean that my isp is throttling bittorent. if that is the case, how can i achive 80kps for openoffice? Thanks alot

Starhub has been dropping Bittorrent connections. Though I called them up to enquire, they denied it.I'm running MaxOnline Utimate and one fine day, my client is not uploading at all. It's damn obvious.I advise you to use the latest uTorrent 1.4.1 beta or Azureus v2.3.0.7 beta client. And enable encryption. This will encrypt your headers or data (up to u to choose). It's supposed to bypass ISP's detection.Give it a shot.
sharkbait88
I am also having this problem. I am not sure if it has to do with the torrent, but i was downloading fine until it hit 96.3%. then downloading stopped (although there were 200+ seeders) and uploading was still going along fine. I am not connected to any seeders, but there are a lot available. I have everything enabled, DHT, protocol encryption set to "enabled" peer exchange etc.

lostcowboy
Hi I am also downloading from demonoid, on this last torrent I have been having very slow downloads. I think the tracker is having problems getting the upload/download ratio working correctly. Currently both my upload and download are wrong for me and have not been updating correctly. For the last two days, it has been slow and not updating. I just now updated to the latest beta 421, so I had to stop the torrent. I also logged off the site, and logged back on. When I logged back on my ratio numbers were updated, and I have been getting a good download speed. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Hot Rocks
I've been having the same MF problem .I've worked at it for about a week and still have very low d/l speeds.Only once did it ever go past 80 and after it was 90% complete it went to a .6 d/l rateand has stayed there.I have read all that I could to fix the problem, but no results.I'm about to say F it if I can't get this fixed in the next few days.My problem is not uncommon after I've read ever forum/help topic I could find.Does someone have a gun ? ....Bang I've reconfig every thing from the router to the fire wall, changing ports..ect..ect.. And I keep getting the SOS .Hot Rocks Rock On!
Switeck
Hot Rocks,We need to know a LOT more about your problem so we can at least make intelligent guesses as to the cause. What's the official rated speed of your connection, both up and down?Have you done online speed tests to verify you're getting close to the rated up and down speeds? What type of connection do you have? (wireless, ADSL, cable, Fiber, ISDN, T-1 or better?)Are you on a Wireless LAN? (Wireless ISPs tend to leave you completely firewalled because you are behind their router and it's not port forwarded.)Is your computer connected to your modem by USB?(Wireless and USB connections are almost always much slower and not able to handle as many connections as an ethernet connection.)What kind of router do you have (if any)? What brand AND model is your modem? (It probably needs to be checked for a mini-router and/or firewall that has to be configured.)What Windows OS are you using? (Win XP SP2 and Vista can be particularly troublesome)
