Indywizkid Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Hey everyone! I am new to uploading torrents, and if anyone could give me a step by step guide on how to download a single torrent to a public site (TPB) and a private site (demonoid) at the same time I would be so grateful! I want to get the same torrent out to both sites to increase the number of hits so I don't have to seed as long. I keep having trouble when it comes to uploading, so if anyone could give me easy instructions that would be great! I am just wanting to be a better help to the torrent community! Thanks!

Indywizkid Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 Ok, but when I try to put it to both I use the private torrent because that's what demonoid said to do, but both sites need their trackers to be at the top of the list to upload them. Do I have to make 2 seperate torrent files one for each site? If I name them something different will they still be connected?
Firon Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 You have to make one torrent private and the other not private if you want to load them separately.Demonoid is far from private anyway.
thelittlefire Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Naming of the torrent doesn't matter, the information under INFO must be identical for them to work "together". That's why private=1 is in INFO for "private" torrents... I use http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31306 to look at torrent layout information.
Indywizkid Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 ok, so if I make 2 separate .torrent files to look exactly the same, just switch the trackers positions around, then I can upload the demonoid to the demonoid site, and the pirate bay one to TPB site and they will be connected? I wouldn't mind just having one on pirate bay and one on demonoid and just having them sparate, except I was trying to figure this out so they could help seed each other and I wouldnt have to.
thelittlefire Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 If you want to make the torrent, correct. Including both trackers in the creation dialog will correctly create the multi-tier tracker spec in the torrent. Afterwards you don't need to remake the torrent, and I'd use http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31306 to cut/paste the primary tracker key to whichever site you're uploading to You still have to seed the file until (at least another seed is created) but both peersets will be able to find the data since you PUT both trackers in the list at the beginning.
Clairebug Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 If you are using a "real" private tracker, meaning you have a passkey appended to your torrent name, you better not try to add other trackers since you will get banned. Read up on the rules where you are a member. If you have data files that you got from a private tracker, you need to create a new torrent. The .torrent file needs a new name. Add a small file to the folder (like a txt or log or nfo) so that the data size for the new torrent is different (the other way is to change piece size but that is a pain). Now, if you want to add other trackers to a demonoid torrent, that is a different animal. Upload your torrent to demonoid, use the private flag or the site won't like it, then once it is in the pool add your dumpsite trackers to it, and if you need more help, check the demonoid forums. Just never ever add a private tracker to a public tracker torrent.Oh, I forgot - so editing to add this - maybe the easiest way of all is to upload it to tpb first and then add to demonoid as an external. Won't help your ratio there but it doesn't matter since they don't have any enforcement. The demonoid populace will see your torrent and grab it despite the fact that it is tagged external.
thelittlefire Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 To make it a different torrent, most "private" sites just add a key called "source".. or maybe that's part of the tracker software. There's no need to make ANOTHER torrent from the same dataset once it's created.
moogly Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Yeah it's a good question, seeding the same torrent on private & public tracker.1/ I have already seeded many torrents on 2 private trackers with the same hash. A leecher just needed to dwl the .torrent on both trackers, the p2p client added automatically the 2nd announce after the 1st one.So the result was (in the download window) a torrent with 2 announces but NOT 2 torrents with each announce. And the leecher could mix the 2 swarms even if it's not consistently with the tracker privacy. But I think this tip worked because these 2 trackers are only semi-private trackers, and when I uploaded the torrent of the 1st tracker onto the second tracker, the hash was NOT changed...Maybe it's not always the case, isn't ? :| 2/ Anyway, I saw some torrents uploaded firstly on private tracker, on public tracker or torrent aggregator like search-torrents... the private announce was present with many other public ones and the hash was NOT modified. So I imagine some aggregators dont modified the hash of the torrent from a private tracker. but HOW ? It's the user ? It's the tracker when the .torrent is uploaded ?
thelittlefire Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Yes, the INFOHASH will be identical with identical information in the INFO dictionary. Hence the addition of "source" for most private tracker software. For the infohash to change, the data has to be different. Indexers don't modify .TORRENT files AFAIK.. that kind of removes their function as "aggregator" doesn't it?
