joshbarty
Since upgrading from 1.7.7, like many people using uTorrent, both of my Downloading and Uploading speed have experience a significant drop. From my Maximum 230kB/s downloading and 50-70kB/s uploading (when using 1.7.7), to an average range of 5-20kB/s download and upload speed (when using 1.8 and 1.8.1). As far as I'm concern, my setting has virtuarly stayed the same.I'm using a netgear dg834g wireless router and, according to utorrent's port checker, the port is open. My internet connection is 1 Mbit connection.I'm currently running out of ideas and read every guide I have stumbled on but to no avail. I will appreciate any assistance I can get to solve this speed plague.
thelittlefire
If you have a 1Mbit connection you can't download > 128 KiBps. What are your speedtest values? How fast does a torrent from http://slackware.com/torrents/ download?
joshbarty
The test results from http://www.dslreports.com shows my download rate is at 220 kB/s and 110 kB/s for upload. The slackware torrent is currently doing a very healthy average of 130 kB/s over the span of 30 minutes , but my other torrent isnt doing so well, unfortunately. So is it safe to assume the last few torrents (about 5) I used, since upgrading to 1.8, were rubbish?
Switeck
Your ISP may have a burst rate which allows higher than normal max speed for short intervals. Great for smaller files but worthless for anything over 10 MB. This can cause speed tests to report very high speeds, yet your average download/upload speeds on torrents is not as good. Switeck
The slackware torrent shows pretty much the best torrent download speed you can hope to get.
