Stable and beta in same folder?

Is it possible to put both stable and beta .EXEs in the same folder using same settings.dat and resume.dat, seeing that the beta has got additional new settings.

Will the beta's additional settings affect the stable one's, providing that other settings are identical?

I switched between beta and stable without any problems before, so I think it should be fine.

yeah the new beta has additional lines to settings.dat so if u close it it will save those settings

when u open the stable (old version) it will read all the settings but when u close it it will save only these settings which it recognises

and then when u open the new beta there are no settings that effect what's new

1.3 stable will erase any new settings you set in the betas, unfortunately, because it wasn't designed to ignore stuff it didn't recognize. But you can try it anyway.

Let me get things straight here:

You're saying that the stable will not touch the additional lines in settings.dat added by the beta, so it's ok to use the same settings.dat for both.

And you're saying that the additional lines will be deleted by stable because it does not recognise the settings. So does this mean that after settings.dat is saved by stable, the additional settings in beta will be reset (all other settings remain)?

So, which one is it?

If you use the beta, then revert to 1.3, it will clear all the extra settings from the beta (beacuse it doesn't recognize them).

Not at all. Future stables shouldn't have this problem at all (since the functionality was put in to ignore unknown settings instead of stripping them)
