ajl_mo Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Hi all,I recently updated to v1.8. But now when I download from Dimeadozen no .torrent file is created. Where oh where did my .torrent files go?ThanksAJ
Firon Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Torrents loaded into ut are saved to %AppData%\uTorrent by default.
ajl_mo Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 Thanks Firon. After a bit more poking around I found a setting in Preferences->Directories->Store .torrents in: that allows me to pick a common directory for all .torrents to be stored. But is there a way to have the .torrent automatically placed in the directory with the d/l files? I've had trouble in the past with trying to figure out which .torrent is which. Having them stored with the d/l files is an easy way for me to keep track.ThanksAJ
ajl_mo Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 FironNo, there isn't.***********Rats. Well perhaps on an update. 1.7 allowed for the .torrent to be placed in the folder just above the d/l files. It was very handy. Thanks for the quick replyAJ
thelittlefire Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Above the DL files? You mean in the completed folder? You can enable "move to completed folder"... is that what you're talking about?
ajl_mo Posted September 13, 2008 Author Report Posted September 13, 2008 >Above the DL files? You mean in the completed folder? You can enable "move to completed folder"... is that what you're talking about?**********Sorry it's taken so long to reply. Not exactly. In 1.7 the .torrent file was placed in a folder along with another folder with the d/l'ed files. At least with Dimeadozen.org. I've not d/l from anywhere else so it might be different. But with 1.8 the best I can do is have ut save the .torrent to a directory and then move it with the d/l'ed files myself.
thelittlefire Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 I'm not sure what option you're talking about in 1.7, sorry But IF you had a completed directory set, and IF you enabled move torrents when complete to a folder, that's likely what you're trying to do. Unless of course the torrent had the torrent embedded in the files (note infinite recursion makes this unlikely )
ajl_mo Posted September 14, 2008 Author Report Posted September 14, 2008 OK I don't want to beat a dead horse here, especially because it's really not that big of a deal but....I have a single torrent directory. In it I have separate directories for each artist/band and then direct the download to whatever artist it is. ut1.7 put the .torrent file in the directory with the d/l files. For instance I have a "Jack Johnson" directory. I'm d/l the "Jack Johnson, July 2nd, 2008, Hyde Park,London, England" show and create a directory with that name. So I'd get jj2008-07-02.at831.R09.shn.torrent file in the same directory as the files for that show. It's so I can keep track of what torrent files go with which show. When I go back to seed a show I know which file to open.At one time I let all the torrent files pile up into a single directory. But there's a lot of times it's tough to remember which file is which. Is jj2008-07-02.at831.R09.shn.torrent Jack Johnson or JJ Grey or Jerry Jeff Walker or Jimmy Buffett playing w/ Jack Johnson? Is todd 4-21-02 SHN.torrent Todd Snider, Todd Rundgren or Big Head Todd?If I put the torrent file in a directory with the artist I can tell. ut 1.7 put the torrent in the directory with the d/l files.BUT since I figured out how to get the .torrent files to a single directory I just have remember to move them after a download. So it's not a huge problem. It would be great to have the option to pick which directory a .torrent was saved every time I start a new d/l instead of have a single default directory. If there's a better way to do any of this I'd appreciate any advice. I'm pretty new at all of this. Thanks for the replies littlefireAJ
Firon Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 1.7 didn't have any such support. If you're moving the .torrent files from the storage folder, then when you restart the client, all your torrents are going to break until you move them back and restart again.
