Utorrent Freezes the PC

Reformatted my PC yesterday, looking for a solution to why now, it decided to stop working...

I know there has been many answers to these type of questions and i have tried many of the alrdy posted items, but nothing seems to not be working...

for some reason i cant find the Crash files located within utorrent, i followed the site u posted but non existent... any other ways to locate them ill gladly do it.

The computer crashes? Sign of an underlying problem in the system, maybe with the networking drivers. Do a Windows update and an update of your hardware. Also, try looking in c:\windows\minidump for a Windows crash dump, you can Google how to analyze it yourself or upload it to a site like mediafire for someone on here to try analyzing it.

removed roxio and nero from the computer, updated windows to fullest. reinstalled utorrent and posted the new list above. hope that helps... still cant locate any crash files.

Vista bleh. OK, so what kind of internet do you have and how do you connect to it? Also what Speed Guide (Ctrl-G) settings do you use?

Comcast commercial internet (switched to it cuz of the 250 gb cap) its 20 mb/s (about 1.4 Mb/s utorrent) Wired to their biz router.

the speed guide i follow is the 20 mb/s.

First problem there. Speed Guide is based on UPLOAD. I bet you get MAYBE 2 Mbit upload. Run a speedtest, and for verification, what's the usual sustained upload you can pump out? Before doing that though you should change the speed guide to xx/256. Start a torrent you already have, and let it seed and pump out data to peers for 5-10 minutes, switch between 1 and 5 second intervals on the Speed tab to see a sustained speed. If you have "bumps", change the upload limit to 90% of that "peak" figure and retest. What you're looking for is a straight horizontal line ON the limit. When i was on comcast, I could pump out 58 KiBps sustained on my .5Mbit upload.

switched to xx/256 to test and now im getting disk overload, which i may have been getting before, but just now noticed it... when it overloads this freezes my PC... so might this be solved also?

nvm that was something i configured wrong. fixed the overload problem, but the PC still freezes... esp webpages (brower issues)

What is your sustained upload? What did you change?

Start > Event Viewer > System > See any Event ID 4226's? Also, try running a search on your computer for *.dmp, as well as going to your PC manufacturers site for updates. When you say crash you mean an actual crash right? A BSOD and maybe an auto-restart?

in less than 2 days i have seen the BSOD 3 times and have a large number of (random) re-starts... so yeah...

i tried patching the TCP for vista. (not sure if the patch did anything tho)

my upload speed is (speedtest) 768 Kb/s and my download speed is 1.67 Mb/s (average)

so i changed my speed guide to the one closest to that (xx/768).

i am getting my torrents from Torrentleech cuz its always worked before (weeks ago).

going to make sure all drivers are totally updated again, maybe i missed a network card driver somewhere... thanks for the fast help, hope i can get this straightened out soon...

still have the computer freezing, but no more BSOD... no other processes running besides utorrent and firefox...

uninstalled utorrent, install utorrent 1.3 and it works great. there is something with the newer versions and something on the PC that stops things from working...
