JZ1111
I am reinstalling XP and want to resume downloads where I left off. What do I need to backup and how?
Firon
http://utorrent.com/faq.php#How_can_I_backup_my_settings.3FObviously, you need to backup all the downloaded content itself.
JZ1111
Last time, the resume.dat was blank. What are the steps for making a resumable backup. All the content will be intact in the download folder. For example, if I put the entire App folder into the new installation will everything resume? I thought that was what did not happen after a recent reinstall of XP.
Ultima
Assuming the paths remain exactly alike, then yes, the torrents should resume without any problems. If otherwise, you'll need to retarget the files manually, either in µTorrent, or by editing resume.dat directly via BEncode Editor.
JZ1111
I tried installing uTorrent on another drive and then opened the files from the previous App data, but they started from the beginning. How do edit the files to start a resumed download? How do I retarget individual files?
Ultima
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=31306Individual files can be retargeted in the Files tab context menu (relocate). Retargeting torrents themselves (and not the individual files within) can be done using the context menu for the torrents list (Advanced > Set Download Location)
JZ1111
It worked for a while, but now the "set download location" option is grayed out.
Firon
You have to stop the torrent first.
JZ1111
I did that, but the checking process where the previous download 'fills up" isn't happening.
Ultima
Force recheck then.
