gophergun
Okay, well, three days ago, uTorrent was working great, and I was getting speeds of around 850 kB/s on good torrents. I for some reason decided to "optimize" my connection using the uTorrent speed guide, making this a perfect case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". My internet now works fine when uTorrent is closed, but when it's open, my Internet connection slows to a halt for five or ten seconds at a time about every thirty seconds or so. My ISP is Comcast, my motherboard is an ASUS IPILP-LC (specs), and I am connected directly to my modem. You can see the spikes and drops in that screenshot. Also, even during the spikes, it never goes above, say, 125 kB/s, which is strange for a 7 or 10 mbps (I forget which) connection, and this happened on both the OpenOffice.org and Linux torrents.Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? I'll gladly post more information if necessary.
Switeck
Possibly bad settings for uTorrent?2nd link of my signature...your screenshot shows 125 KB/sec upload, so probably 1 or 1.5 megabit/second upload settings max.
gophergun
Thank you very much, I think that did the trick.
Switeck
You can possibly set alternate upload rate while not downloading (only seeding) a bit higher than regular upload speed max. Maybe 100 KB/sec, maybe even as high as 125 KB/sec. You'll have to test that one to see the fastest upload speeds you can get without web surfing lag.
