hinker
Hey, when I use µtorrent it works awesome. When the download is finished it is probably only 25% done uploading. I usually just leave my computer on, but accidentaly shut it off sometimes. When I start it back on, I open up µtorrent and the download starts again. Is there any way to just get it so it uploads it? Also is they any way to increase your upload speed? Mine never goes higher the 15 kbps.
ICleolion
What is your connection speed? What is your upload speed capped too in UTorrent? What do you mean the download starts again. From what point does it start again?
hinker
I don't know the connection speed , but the upload speed is set at 0 which is unlimited. The downlaod starts from the beginning. It is like I never downloaded it at all. Any way for it just to upload?
ICleolion
You have to cap your upload speed to 80% of your upload speed. So i would suggest capping your upload to around 9 or 10Kbps.
dudeboyz
I usually set my upload speed to like 80% of capacity (so if yours can do 50, set it to 40) and that seems to help even things out.
hinker
how do I get it so when I open up µtorrent that it only uploads the file and not download. see my other posts for the other info. How would I know what to cap the upload speed at? µtorrent only uploads at max 30 kbps but I just did a speed test and it said I could upload at ~250 kbps. Would I cap it to like 200 kbps then? Firon
KiB/s != "kbps" (kbit/s)
Switeck
As far as I know, if the file isn't done downloading you can't stop µTorrent from trying to download more of it.But you could limit download speeds really low.
hinker
But the file is done, I have the whole thing and have run it. After you close µtorrent then open it again, the files starts downloading. I don't want it to download again, just upload. how do you do that? splintax
KiB/s != "kbps" (kbit/s)lol, people with that problem generally don't understand !=, and think it means "DEFINITELY equals!". well, at least that's been my experience in the pasthinker: You shouldn't have to do that, it's meant to do it automatically. (That is, start seeding, not continue downloading.) Can you post a screen of µTorrent (not including the name of the file) when you first open it up again? Maybe it's checking, not downloading.... hinker
Thanks for all your help guys. Here is the screen. I just opened it up so it is not fully up to speed, I usually get 250-300 kbps download. It doesn't even start to upload after I open it up again. Note: I have already downloaded the file and have it working.http://img210.imageshack.us/my.php?image=utorrent1yr.jpg

splintax
That is really weird. The only thing I can think of that could be causing the problem is if you're not setting the folder correctly. This sounds like a stupid mistake, but there is quite a counterintuitive thing in BT that stuffed me over a few times back when I was learning in my Suprnova days. When you select the folder to download to, if the torrent you're downloading is a folder itself, a new folder will be created as a subfolder containing the data. For example, if the torrent is of a folder called "OpenOffice v3.0" and it contains "setup.exe" and "readme.txt" (shut up, I know this is not realistic), and you set it to download in C:\BitTorrent, µT will create C:\BitTorrent\OpenOffice v3.0\setup.exe and C:\BitTorrent\OpenOffice v3.0\readme.txt. If you then start seeding by re-importing the torrent, and therefore resetting the download directory and you set the download directory to C:\BitTorrent\OpenOffice v3.0, which makes sense, that is wrong, and µT will resume the download as C:\BitTorrent\OpenOffice v3.0\OpenOffice v3.0\readme.txt and setup.exe.Make sense? This doesn't sound like the problem, but it's all that I can think of..
hinker
it makes some sense. I tried it and it didnt work. I will uninstall µtorrent and reinstall and download something and try it.

ludde
I don't really know what it could be. Please try 1.
Switeck
Is the drive you are downloading to always available? If it's a network drive, there could be a slim chance of it being inaccessable from your computer at least for an instant occassionally...though I don't know/see how that might cause a problem with µTorrent. The Mighty Buzzard
And are you absolutely sure it's downloading again and not just checking the files?
splintax
The pic he posted showed the Status as Downloading, so yes.Switeck's suggestion sounds probable.. are you saving to a local HDD or even the system HDD/partition? If not I suggest trying that, at least to see if it's the problem or not.
