Port does not appear to be open

I have a ADSL router Linksys WAG200G and I did use the single port routing to 32499 to forward both UDP and TCP to my local machine 192.168.1.100 and I still get the message

Port 32499 does not appear to be open

I changed the port both on uTorrent and Router to 51514 and still no luck. I even went to the extent of putting the local ip into the DMZ for the router and still "Port not open"

Can you help me?

THanks

When you put your mouse over the network status symbol, what does it say? On the Linksys, find a status page, and post the first two parts of the IP address listed in the Internet section. Also, set up a static IP address ending above 149 and below 255, then forward to that.

My network status is green and said

Network Ok

Your Network connection is working as it should

However, still says port not open when I check it and speed is not that great downloading, max about 20kb/s for 1Mb connection

Here is my Linksys info

IP Address: 89.211.xx.xx

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255

Default Gateway: 89.211.xx.xx

DNS1: 212.77.xx.xx

DNS2: 212.77.xx.xx

IIRC, as long as the icon is green, utorrent is getting connections; with regards to the speed, i have a 20mb cable line and depending on the torrent, i see speeds only between 2kbps and 40kbps. i found it depends what you are downloading (popularity) and from how many seeds/peers; those seeds & peers may have a restriction on the speed that people can get their pieces.

Are you using IPv6+Teredo? Linksys routers have some issues with port forwarding, which is why I'd try a static IP address on your computer, then forwarding to that. Please do so to be sure it isn't a router issue. Also check for a router upgrade: http://www-au.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=AU%2FLayout&cid=1169671629543&packedargs=sku%3D1172712873708&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=2954373708B07&displaypage=nodata

Thanks, I will do the static IP address for my desktop. I noticed that IPv6 Teredo might be the problem so I removed IPv6 from XP from network connections and I think it made a difference.

Badger_Fruit, I know what you are saying but I try to download popular torrents with seeds in excess of 25,000+ but i manage only to connect to about 6-10 out of those seeds which affects the download as well and I cant find any other way to increase the direct connection
